Great thread! So no US property marking and the lanyard installed by S&W over the top of the butt serial. Probably wishful thinking on my part, but it makes me wonder if the USN was thinking about that configuration as a possible aircrew weapon, in line with the old USAF M13 Aircrewman? They must have liked the lanyard swivel since it appeared on the later model 36 USN contract production.
