Default Pietta's stainless Competition 1863 Remington

About 15 years ago I ordered three Competition 1863 Remington percussion 44 from Pietta directly from Italy. At the time these completely different but visually identical cap lock revolvers were not imported. The other day I was working with Brownell's magnetic gunsmith screw driver set. It popped into my head to use the magnet on the visible parts of one of the Piettas. The only part that was magnetic was the gain twist barrel. Did the non-martensitic stainless steel of cylinder and lock work render the revolver essentially immune to corrosion of black powder residue? I had not paid attention to cleaning these revolvers differently from my non-stainless Shiloh Sharps 1863 cap lock rifles, so I cannot confirm any special corrosion resistance for the revolvers. . . just an interesting factoid.
