Saw a segment on a TV program called Strangest Things. They had a segment on these and there is a consensus as to their use and the reason so many have been found. It is not a weapon or gaming piece. It is a knitting device to knit gloves. They did a demonstration as to how it was used. Kind of disappointing to say the least.
