That most likely isn't going to happen. It would require an entirely new frame size complete with the costs of R&D, and seeing as they've been having a hard enough time working the bugs out of the M&P10 as it is, it seems unlikely that they'd want to develop an all-new 10mm pistol in the SD Series.

Also, it's important to note that the SD Series, even in it's latest 2.0 iteration, is still based on the design of the original Sigma Series, ergo S&W hasn't developed an entirely new design in this line of pistols since it was originally released in 1994.

Its doable but like you say it would take at the least a beefed up frame. The Sigma/ SD series frames are not what I would consider the strongest as is and when people buy 0MMs its kind of a given they should be able to handle full to Max power 10MM since thats the entire point. The Sigma/SD series never even upgraded to 2 pins on the locking blocks for the 40S&W so I cant see them holding up to 10mm even if they did just make a new mold for 10MM with a different magwell for the longer case.

That being said I have never seen a cracked frame around the locking block on the Sigmas and people have tried to kill these guns through the years to somehow prove house lousy they supposedly are. Even the 357sig versions didnt seem to crack the frames in the locking block area. Personally though I wish they were a bit more rigid similar to Springfield XDs.

You never know though. The SD40VE 2.0 is kind of a surprise since everybody bashes the 40S&W these days. I figured they would phase that one out but its good to see them keeping it around despite this current fad of anti 40s... which will subside eventually.

The most strange thing to me is that S&W never downsized the Sigma or SDs into Subcompacts (SW380 and SW9M dont count). S&W offers SO MANY different lines of pistols these days though its probably always on the backburner. Subcompact Sigmas should have hit the market once the Gen 3 pistols were released but never happened.

We also should have gotten a 45acp version of the Sigma but that never happened either. Figure something like a Gen 3 SW40VE chambered in 45acp with a 10-12 round magazine.

If S&W is serious about keeping the 30SC alive they would be smart to offer it in the SD 2.0 series. It wouldnt be that difficult. Basically a Magazine redesign and maybe some slide lightening. Interesting cartridge but its going to die quick if somebody doesnt put some focus on it.

They are still hanging onto that SD series for some reason though. I am still surprised they went through the work of developing a 2.0 and changing the trigger a little more.
