My most beautiful .357 Magnun

Holy smokes, the sheen on that blue is quality. Do you use ren wax?

Thank you very much, its more of a process to me than just the wax.

This was the last time I cleaned my Model 66-1, its pretty much the
same for every gun after its been to the range.

I start with Hoppe's 9 and wipe the gun down.
I pull one of those ropes or snakes thru the barrels from the
cylinder side and never down the muzzle end.
I use the rod to clean the cylinder.

I wipe them down good with microfiber towels and then use Flitz
to finish cleaning them and then I finish them off with Ren Wax
and buff them using Flitz microfiber towels.
They are the nicest ones I've found.
I apply the Flitz and Ren Wax with the end of my finger and use both of them sparingly.

My Model 686-6 was the filthiest gun I have ever acquired.
I have purchased the correct chemicals and cleaning materials for
all finishes, blue stainless and nickel.

I spent a lot of time on it but it cleaned up really really nice.
Buy the right stuff and take your time.

Hello Kenny,

I too am from Utah! She is beyond a looker! How do you have the willpower to NOT shoot that beauty. That’s awesome it’s been in the family for all these years. You seem to know what you’re doing!

Years ago when I started getting into revolvers a model 27 was on my list. I had read where the 27 was the queen of the Smith & Wesson fleet. A local classified ad was for a model 27–2, made the call, met the seller and bought it. First of all I didn’t realize it was a 5 inch and secondly had no idea what a gem it was. It’s a nice condition shooter, one of my favorite Smiths. I shoot it several times a year at the local IDPA match. Older guys might look at it and smile, younger ones wonder what the hell it is.

If those case liners are have not been restored that has to be one of the nicest sets out in the wild.

This is what it looked like the I acquired it.

I am pretty sure it is all factory.
This was its first cleaning.

And I'd be willing to bet my brother didn't pay $366 for it either.
He ws a very good customer and a great negotiator. ;)
I would guess its worth a little more than that today. :)

Sunset Sport Centers. Salt Lake City. I spent a few bucks there back in the day. I bought my 6-inch Model 27 from Zinik's across town in 1979 for $348.08 out the door.

Zinik's. there's a place I haven't heard in YEARS!!
I don't doubt that my brother bought a few there too.

Do you remember Wolfe's Sporting Goods and Parks Sportsman?

I remember Wolfs but not Parks.

Wasn't Wolf's on Wasatch Blvd just past 3900 So?

My brother shot two bank robbers robbing the bank on the south end of that strip mall.
