The article points out that another ship saw the flares from the Titanic, but kept sailing on. It happened to be called the Californian.

True. The Californian was close enough to Titanic to have rescued its passengers before they died in the frigid water and the crew saw the distress rockets being fired from the Titanic. Yet the Californian’s captain did nothing.The article points out that another ship saw the flares from the Titanic, but kept sailing on. It happened to be called the Californian.
Probably the best film made about the Titanic disaster was a late 1950s British production titled “A Night to Remember.” It shows up on TCM occasionally.
