The "Slippery slope" of gun control does exist
For years there has been talk about the "slippery slope" of giving into any "reasonable" restriction for gun control. The other side always says we just want this one more "reasonable restrictions/control" on guns.
Well thanks to NY we now have evidence that the "slippery slope"does exist..........
For the past two decades NY has restricted mags. to 10 rounds.......but now that's not good enough....... now 10,9, or 8 rounds are too many.... so NY now has a 7 round mag restriction......... and owners have a year to sell their high cap mags ....out of state!
As a related issue without 10 rd mags..... how many third generation S&W autos won't have any mags available in 2014.....I doubt any company is going to make a 7 round mag for a discontinued gun...... just for the NY market.

That's why their law says seven round mags. It makes many guns obsolete....except the ones the criminals will have.

It appears this bill was rushed through at night with minimal to no debate. What NYS has done is inconvenience legitimate gun owners without bothering gun criminals in the least. If you have a WWI Springfield 1903 with a bayonet lug it has to be registered as an "Assault rifle". Yet an AR-15 can be legalized by removing the pistol grip, flash hider, bayonet lug, and telescoping stock.
I am assuming that LEO's are exempt from these restrictions.
Just wait till the next gun atrocity, there will be a call for further gun restrictions. I see this from time to time in Chicago. The government is unable or unwilling to do anything about drug gangs, but are more than happy to infringe on law abiding people's second amendment rights.

I went to bed on Monday night and woke up on Tuesday with 57 potential misdemeanor charges against me. My Ruger 10/22 is illegal, My M&P 9c is illegal, my Sig 250 .45 is illegal, my Browning Buckmark 22 is illegal, my Stag is like uber-illegal (apparently on many levels) as is my kid's SR 22 rifle.
My favorite carry piece, The one I practice with most (including off hand). The gun I feel safest with is a discontinued FNP 9. I couldn't get 10 rounds mags for it. The possibility of getting 7 rounders is beyond nil.
The 7 round mag thing is a slap in the face to legal gun owners and a total "screw you" from the progressives in Albany. Cuomo has stated that he began thinking of gun control back when he was in the Clinton regime. It is totally ideological and lacks any form of historical, statistical or factual data to support it. It is an absolute "hey guys look what I can do because the down state, gun hating liberals think I'm great". He stuck it to the law abiding gun owners of NY BECAUSE HE CAN. No more and no less.
So, today guns Tomorrow who knows????

Regarding high cap mags Here is what I understand. If we have an existing semi auto like my 4013TSW or my 1076, I am allowed to keep those magazines because they have a capacity of 10 or less. HOWEVER, DUE TO THE LUNACY AND STUPIDITY OF THE LAW, LEFTIES OF NY LISTEN UP, I am allowed to ONLY place 7 bullets.
If on the other hand, we have a firearm like my 6906 that has a capacity of 12 rounds, then that magazine has to be sold or surrendered. In essence I have s single shot semi auto. Sheldon Silver is such a NON CORPUS MENTUS politician. Surrender? NEVER. I AM PLANNING TO MOVE OUT OF NYS ANYWAY.

Well... maybe not. Someone posted another thread in this forum that mentions the bill was rushed through so fast that no exemption was included.
The thread is titled - New York says "OOPS"
Link to thread - New York says "OOPS"
I can imagine this causing a problem.

Make no mistake about it, the reason the left succeeds politically more often than does the right is because they completely understand the concept of winning incrementally.

Bam-Bam correctly sums it up. Even the dimmest bulbs among us should by now clearly see the realities of what the left desires.

And it is going to make "criminals" out of normally law abiding people that believe "not to be infringed" means not to be infringed. Some where a line needs to be drawn ...........

Mr. Cuomo just killed any chance he has at being elected president. I don't think he and his friends realize the backlash they're gonna get on this. If it gets that far, and I don't think it will, I will donate money to whoever his opponent is. There's gonna be a lot of new faces in their legislature next election.

This is just crazy, that a state(s) can continue to bring forth laws that do nothing to fix any of the problems, just infringe on lawful citizens...this just proves that the ultimate goal in these states is to slowly eliminate the right to bear arms, one step at a time. Will they care if crime increases because only the criminals have guns? I guess not.

Next time one mag only limit
The next time anyone is shot anywhere - our kings will pass another decree limiting subjects to one magazine per gun per house.
Exemption permits will be passed out to rich nobility at golf courses.
(Psst - every night someone is shot in bad side of New York City or Chicago. But the paparazzi news is not there unless there is a use for that story)

Of course it is a slippery slope..
We went 190+ years before the second set of legislations regarding guns....
It didn't seem to be an issue in this country until the last 40 years. Thanks to flower power hippies and liberals.
