I whipped this up this morning for our reps. Feel free to copy and mangle as required.
Sen ***,
Thank you for your efforts and earnest representation of our state.
I support working for bi-partisan progress on mental health treatment as do the majority of second amendment defenders. Many of whom are not gun owners.
A majority of traditional Americans believe that we are not the end users of the second amendment, but stewards and custodians for future generations. If we cannot guarantee that future generations will not need the second amendment's protection, then it should remain fully intact. Please help assure that all discussions regarding second amendment issues proceed with due respect for those that granted it, for the generations that have fought and died to maintain it and for generations to come.
As Americans, we are innocent until proven guilty. The rights of sportsmen and sportswomen as well as families to pass on heirlooms and right of passage rifles, hand guns, etc. need to be protected as cultural, constitutional and under our adjacent rights to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".
The statistics of Newtown are insignificant when compared to other cases of death in this country. I and 1000's of other families have lost our loved ones in combat (or to drunk drivers or to medical malpractice, etc).
The partisan exploitation and empowerment of the Newtown families is making them into an onerous symbol of manipulative and deceptive politics at its worst.
Thank you and best regards,
Mr. Blankety Blank
