Default Washington State Legislature is at it again.

I haven't seen anything on this yet.
New proposed legislation to make selling firearms in Washington State financially prohibited.
Included is a requirement that all conversations at the gun counter be recorded in Hi Resolution video and audio, with a warning at the entry door that this is happening. If you don't want to be recorded, you can't buy a firearm in Washington. This would include required transfers of private sales.
But wait, there is a lot more!

This is not the state to which I moved in 1993. The lunatic fringe in the legislature, almost all from the I-5 Corridor, are destroying it. From the knowingly false narratives about policing based on the lies from Minneapolis (I won't specify what I mean, as I got a warning, but you can go to YouTube and search for "The Glenn Show"; the relevant video is about 45 minutes long),to the stupid and usually unconstitutional gun law proposals, this is becoming a criminal favoring hell hole.

You guys have my sympathy. I always liked my trips in the military to McChord AFB and always have viewed Washington State as a beautiful place to live. Gun owners, hunters and firearms dealers in the eastern part of the state are probably livid about what is being dictated in the west. Suddenly, Mississippi doesn't look so bad.

It's turned into another liberal toilet. Certainly glad we saw the writing on the wall and moved out.

Let's see . . . a government mandate to record private conversations. That sounds like it is against some rule.

Wouldn’t this be categorized as a “chilling effect” on the exercise of a Constitutional Right and therefore, unconstitutional?

You're assuming that matters to the pin heads that are pushing this tripe. Here's how it works . . . . Instate the policy, drag your feet, muddy the water, bilk the taxpayers to pay for defending all the legal challenges and appeals, take your payments from Soros and his ilk and pat yourself on the back for being a virtue signaling liberal socialist eunuch that really believes in and stands for nothing of any substance.

I was born and raised her, my family has deep roots in this state. I don’t recognize it anymore. Native Washingtonians are a minority here, California transplants and others have ruined this state. I attended a talk State Senator Lynda Wilson (R) last Saturday. She laid out all the bills the democrats are proposing. It’s downright scary. I’m not running away I’m going to stay and fight. They are going to try this in every state. We must get involved to stop them.

It could be, if it mattered. The problem is a growing lack of respect for federal authority. Both citizens and state governments,

Legalizing pot is an example of the states thumbing their noses at the feds. Blatantly unconstitutional laws (in particular gun laws) are another. A state will pass some repugnant gun law, enforce it for a few years while people spend vast sums of money getting it shot down by SCOTUS, then the state will pass some equivalent legislation and do it all over again.

Washington Gun Law on youtube keeps tabs on the madness in that state.

It is not going to end until law makers are held accountable (financially and criminally) for repeatedly introducing legislation that clearly violates Constitutional guidelines.

Or the great unwashed masses stand up and say "enough".

Sadly, I don't see either happening.

Considering how much power the feds have grabbed during the second half of the 20th century, push back is appropriate.

I'm not disagreeing with the lack of respect. The consequences will likely be a problem.

My respect for the Feds is below zero at this point. Whether it’s Texas putting up razor wire along the border or legalizing marijuana. Our natural rights do not emanate from any government especially the Federal Government.

You want a good law, pass a law that requires every official conversation a politician, or their staff member, has with anyone other than a family member be recorded/filmed. Wait till you hear those conversations. Your head will explode; the country would probably explode, lol. When the door is shut, the stuff that comes out of their mouths and the mouths of their senior staff will stun you.

California passed a law greatly restricting where people with ccw licenses can carry

To the point that I'm not sure I'll bother renewing my CCW license.

But a couple bright spots. The 9th circuit court blocked the location restrictions from taking effect for now.

I also got a note from my county sheriff saying he intends to fight the new restrictions.

Reading between the lines I doubt he would enforce this law.

There is a trend for red counties to not enforce state laws that are clearly unconstitutional.

I think it's great that conservative counties ignoring state laws.

Gives the state government some of their own medicine for ignoring federal laws, scotus and the constitution.

Yep, I'm a one issue voter.

If you can't even stand up for our 2A rights, then I don't need to listen to any of the other garbage coming out of your face.

I've called WA. home for 58 years and there are still a lot of good Americans living here.

Some of my family live there. I visit every year so know the situation there. Their taxes gun laws and food are higher than California's. Their politics are the same. Terrible.

And worse; mandatory liability insurance for all gun owners!

Proposed Washington State law requiring mandatory liability insurance if you have a firearm in your residence.

Looks like HB 2118 in WA State legislature passed:

2024-03-05 House Passed final passage; yeas, 56; nays, 39; absent, 0; excused, 2.

This is the bill designed to put FFL's out of business. Maybe a 2nd Amendment judge will put a hold on the law until it gets to the Supreme Court. Maybe! Or, until the political winds blow in a different direction in WA State. At present, they are blowing in a rather foul direction!

73,
Rick

This is something that I've been hearing bandied about from liberal states for decades. It's one of those things that looks good on the surface, after all we require cars to have insurance, but will be a nightmare to implement and enforce.

The good part? If your neighbor accidentally shoots your car, his insurance will pay. Sure you could sue him but then the lawyer gets a third and you may never collect.

Or you're getting mugged and you miss the bad guy and shatter a big shop window. I can't afford thousands to replace a giant pane of glass. Insurance to the resuce.

The downsides?

Well, my neighbor who shot my car might get his insurance cancelled and have to surrender his guns.

How will it be enforced? With cars, your insurance info is often tied to the registration. Cancel your insurance and your registration is cancelled. What will they do with guns? Come to your home with a warrant when you cancel your policy?

Most bad things done with guns are done by bad people. Will those bad people have insurance?

Also, if you get charged with a crime, will your insurance abandon you like many of the "carry insurance" companies?

Will your premiums be reduced if you get training like car insurance premiums. Go to GunSite and get 10% off?
