So, you don't think a bill such as this has any expectations attached? Seems that way to me ... just more of society dumping responsibility of its' ills on somebody else ... problem solved!

Society already has expectations. They expect a responsible adult to take steps to safeguard the young'uns in their charge.

Without significant training and practice, I wouldn't expect a bunch of teacher to conduct a room-to-room sweep of a school.

This is precisely why I get a CCL like everyone else and will NEVER do LEOSA. Not interested in additional expectations, particularly without a liability umbrella.

In the far left state of Minnesota, a couple years back there was a similar proposal. And of course the uproar from the left followed. Funny thing is, teachers (with the permission of the administrator) have always been able to carry at school.

More like providing the freedom of choice.

John Patrick .. I guess we'll see how much choice there will be for the teachers. I'm thinking that this may become part of the job description down the road. They are teachers ... not armored car drivers.

I fully support teachers who seek the training and have the competency to carry or defend themselves and their classroom, SHOULD CARRY and be PREPARED for these wackos we have in society today who target soft targets such as schools. Same with churches.

I may be biased but in my personal experience many of my teachers were more, much more, expert in the use of firearms than the overwhelming majority of law enforcement I know. One of my principals was a veteran of the (USMC) Inchon landing, my math teacher (82nd Airborne) subdued rioting north Korean prisoners at bayonet point, and another was a Vietnam army infantryman with agent orange skin cancer scabs in the pattern of his helmet liner on top of his bald head. Others were just old country boys raised with a gun in their hands and all were swift and certain shots. Lots of similar folks teaching today. Maybe any LEO claiming tactical superiority to a longtime public school teacher should be required to go to the high school gym, lace up the boxing gloves, and find out who's tougher! My money is on that career educator! And not necessarily the Phys. Ed instructor!
