Default NRA voting results

Admin Edit:
Let's stay on topic here.
The topic is our Victory in electing the four Reform candidates, and beginning the reformation and restoration of the NRA to its former effectiveness.
Other NRA topics can be posted in The Lounge.

///////////////////////////////////////////
original post:

Saw this on another site, so here it goes.

Great news - all four of the reform candidates have been elected to three-year terms on the NRA BOD. Two reform-minded candidates already on the board got re-elected as well (Buz Mills and Rick Ector). To add to the good news, some of the LaPierre lackeys did NOT get elected (Joel Friedman, John Sigler, and David Keene) although unfortunately a few of the other worst enablers managed to stay on (Carolyn Meadows, David Coy, Janet Nyce). The change to the bylaws to add a compliance officer passed as well.

There's still a lot of work to be done. The board needs to be whittled down to a fraction of the size it is now (currently 76 members, which is ridiculously too many), they need to sever all ties to the Brewer law firm, and the judge overseeing the legal matters over the NRA still needs to rule on the remedy for the jury's findings, but things seem to be moving in a positive direction

A step in the right direction. Glad that the strategy of only voting for the reform candidates paid off. Now there need to be 50 more of them next go round.

Great news for sure. The NRA still has a big ole black eye to recover from. This is a step in the right direction.

In this case, the best way to recover from the black eye is for the organization to stop punching itself in the face.

A better solution is for the BoD to be cut to less than 10 and they get to be actually involved in decision making and oversight.

76?? Really? I had no idea.

I have no experience in the corporate world, what is the size of a typical BOD for say a corporation? 10? 15? 20?

I really have no idea.

A large corporation may have a dozen or so but they are broken into committees. For example, there will be a compensation committee to review and approve the officers' compensation plans. There will be a legal committee, an audit committee, etc. Still, BoDs are often picked by the CEO and may not exercise as much oversight as they arguably should, but 76 is silly and guarantees the board is strictly symbolic.

Congratulations to Phil Journey, Rocky Marshall, Dennis Fusaro, Jeff Knox, Buz Mills, and Rick Ector.
Make us proud!
Jeff, let us know what all of us can do to help.
Let's stay on topic here, which is reforming and rebuilding the NRA.
