Bad News in Oregon: Measure 114 Upheld

Blatantly unconstitutional.

Judges who uphold this nonsense and legislators* who vote for such laws should face consequences for civil rights violations under USC 1983.

* I understand this was a ballot measure, but it still should never have been there in the first place.

it will take time, but that will be overturned... so un-Constitutional.. just bad radical judges.. again

You know, I keep telling myself that and yet here we are. When I voted against it, I told myself, "Surely, no reasonable person won't be able to see that, much less believe it is going to help solve anything." But, based on the population of 5 or 6 counties in the state, it passed. Barely.
Mind you, I knew that other states had passed similar laws, some of them longstanding and having passed legal review. But still, I counted on the intelligence of my fellow man and was let down once again.
Next stop, the Oregon Supreme Court. I think it's going to take another Supreme Court to decide this permanently.
Meanwhile we've got to deal with the uncertainty of poorly thought out, poorly written, and poorly implemented laws that may or may not take effect at any time. Like so many of our brothers do. Remember, every vote counts. Don't waste them.

If Portland were made part of California the rest of us would be a lot better off. We've got this whole big state and we are controlled by a tiny little corner in the NW of the state. I realize that not everyone in Portland is an out of touch liberal dreamer but there are sure a lot of them. Roughly 60 percent of the votes are in that corner. And every year it attracts more folks from Cali who feel the need to live the "liberal dream".

Don't forget to curse the memory of Earl Warren for that situation.
