GF...The front of the trigger guard is thinned most likely to make it easier to get your finger on the trigger. The revolver is also fitted with a combat trigger and target hammer. In the remarks section on the end label it is marked "sp. trigger gurard".

The same thinned trigger guard is seen on the Texas Ranger Commemorative Model 19 that was produced in 1973.
