I took the old Smith M & P Lendlease gun from 1942 .38 S & W to the range today. Fired off about 4 cylinders worth of Remington factory ammo. The target was shot offhand at 15 yards single action. Recoil was nil. I can see why the .38 S & W wasn't much of a manstopper. Doesn't feel like there was alot of power there.
