It's a WWI S&W model 1917. During WWI , there was a shortage of handguns and they couldn't make 1911s fast enough so Colt and Smith & Wesson chambered their large frame DA sixguns for the .45 ACP round. The Smiths were much nicer finished than the Colts , but both served well. Some were issued during WWII.



Sounds like the going price for a US 1917. Original grips and lanyard loop might run a few bucks to set things right.
