The chances of legal difficulties arising from a disabled lock a tiny chance within a tiny chance within a tiny chance. Why not just worry about global warming, asteroid impacts or alien invasions? Much more satisfyingly dramatic. I don't believe there's ever been a case based on the IL or, for that matter, handloads used in self defense.
