I just received the plug for my M-625 and I have a couple of questions. Mine appears a little different than the one shown in post #14 in this thread:
The "Plug" for a S&W J-Frame
Mine does not have a flat spot on it and it came with a small "U" shaped retaining spring.
So do I use the "U" shaped spring to hold the plug in place or do I use the fork and spring that held the original lock cylinder/cam?
Also, do I have to remove the flag? Can I file down the locking nub that engages the hammer and leave the flag?

I installed one a couple weeks ago. Mine also did not have a "flat". I needed to install with both fork/spring as well as supplied springclip for it to seat properly. I just left the flag in, otherwise there is a hole visible where it sits in the frame.

What picture are you looking at with the fork and spring in it. Only one showing is with the clip, every once in a while the factory cuts a little extra out where the clip won't work. Then I tell them to use the fork and spring.
I would remove the flag also and I wouldn't cut or file on it. I would store it with the other parts so you can re-install them to sent gun back to the factory.

Will a plug work in 628-8? I have a j frame plug in black that I got from you, can I send it back, pay a few bucks and get a brushed silver one for my 625-8?

625-8 has a piece of metal to the left of the hammer, does this also get removed?

LOL , That Picture is one of the first that I did and the owner of the gun and me where trying something ( which didn't work out ). Plus there was a few send out with the flat side on it. The flat side didn't help or hurt, and that was before the clip that is used now.

Bullseye,
Has anyone plugged their Governor's yet? I'm concerned how the Delrin Black will look, since the Governor's finish is matte black., although I'm sure it will look better than the wart.
I've plugged 2 J frames and think your product is great.
