WITHDRAWN New Mk lll Xtreme Duty Model M&P and XD rated
This is a tool of my own design and manufacture. It isn't a copy of anything I am aware of. It was sort of "born" on this forum and owes some of the design features to member feedback. Anyway, it is a heavy duty pusher that will remove some really tight sights such as S&W and Kimber. It will work on just about any pistol whose slide will fit in the window. It was originally designed for gen3 S&W's, but works equally well on most any 1911's, Sigmas, Sigs, Rugers, HK.s etc. Obviously, slides with safety levers have to have the levers removed. This is very easy on S&W's. Due to the small dovetail, it is not recommended for Springfield XD's. See the new Mk lll for XD use.
Note: Some adjustable sights such as Bomar style have hidden set screws. The elevation screw also acts as a set screw. Be sure to remove set screws before attempting to move the sight.
Included in the package is the tool, with aluminum liner/spacer, a steel pusher screw with the end ground flat to resist marring of the sight. a smaller pusher screw for front sights, and a brass tipped steel screw. These brass tipped screws are pricey, but are almost as strong as the other steel screw and are easier on the sight finish.
Cost to forum members for the basic tool is $60, which includes shipping to the US. PayPal is accepted, but I ask that you add $3 to offset the charges my bank demands to convert payments to cash. I eat the paypal fee, but the two together are a little to much.
For obvious reasons, I don't accept returns, but I will cheerfully repair or replace defective units.

The Mkll is not well suited to the M&P. I'm thinking the new Mklll will handle the job but have not had an opportunity to try it.

Here's pics of the new Mk lll. It will work with the SA XD, and other difficult guns, as well as all the guns the Mk ll will work with.

Will this work with any 1911's? Also, does the new one come with that foam looking lining on each side to prevent any ware to the slide when using this?

Should work on almost any 1911. It comes with the same rubber pads as the Mk ll, plus some rubber spacers for use with the XD.

Effective immediately the pricing on the Mk lll will increase to $70.00 by check or MO, or $75.00 via PayPal including shipping. I'm finding it takes 2+X the time to build the Mk lll as it does the Mk ll. I knew it would take some longer, but there are several extra steps to making a Mk lll. Heat treating the frame and machining the jackscrews to name but a couple. There are some extra fitting steps as well. Keep in mind that the Mk ll works on about 95% of the guns about 98% of the time. In other words, it's all most folks need.

Used the Mk lll on another XD. It was really tight but the tool did what it it was designed to do. I'll try to add some pics when I get to a real computer.

The CM 9 rear sight should be no problem for the Mk ll or Mk lll. The front sight is of course pinned. Still no feedback re the M&P. If someone wants to send me their M&P slide and the sights they want installed we could find out real easily.

Again, looking at pictures, it would appear that so long as the front lightening cuts are shimmed properly it should work fine.

Here's some pics of the latest XD conquest: Note that I'm pushing these off in the right direction this time.
On with the new rear.
On with the new front
Almost done
Notes: This is a preproduction model and differs slightly in appearance from the final design. Also, it is not by coincidence that a .22 case will fit over the end of the jackscrew.
The Mk lll is a lot easier to use when mounted in a bench vise, though it can be used free standing as well.
For those who have requested a model that can be used without removing the safety levers, this hunk of scrap metal is what it's gonna take. I have the design in mind but will have to experiment some to find just the right dimensions and such. Hopefully the Mk lV will be available soon.

Are those blocks of wood you are using to protect the slide from getting scratched?

No. Those are a couple of pieces of hard leather. They work ok, but I prefer the cloth inserted rubber sheeting that I am supplying with the tool. My supply is getting short and I'm looking to make sure there isn't something better.

I had the opportunity to try the new design on a S&W M&P today. THe front sight had been a concern due to the scollops on the front of the slide. It worked very easily, both removing and reinstalling the front sight. I didn't bother to try the rear, it should be a slam dunk. In any event, the M&P can be added to the list.
The new pusher I used is now used. I don't sell used or refurbished for new, Therefore I have this one unit, ser# 16, for sale for $65 shipped. It still looks new, it just isn't. Sort of like buying a new car with 500 miles on the odometer .

Good Job on coming up with a design that will do multiple guns.
Have you considered using fine threads on the pusher screw? it would make "minute" adjustments a little easier and make that screw easier to turn on any sight.
Again, Good job on your efforts

With some technical info provided by FastCrewCab, I have determined that the coarse threads currently in use are substantially more resistant to stripping than fine threads. Absent any contridadictory info, they will remain the standard.

I have yet to lay eyes on a Shield in person, much less try the tool. Looking at the pics I think it will work just like it does on the FS M&P.

To My valued customers:
If you have a pusher scheduled to be shipped this week:
Unfortunately your pusher has been built but not yet shipped. Last week's volume of orders was unprecedented by a wide margin. All the orders placed by Wednesday afternoon were built , but there was no time left for shipping. Unscheduled overtime at ny "regular" job leaves no time Thursday-Sunday for anything except eating and sleeping about 6 hours. It now appears that it will be Monday morning before I can ship this week's orders. While I am quite perplexed with the situation, it is beyond my control at the moment. At this point all I can do is offer apologies. If you would prefer to cancel this transaction and receive a full refund, just let me know. I will issue a refund cheerfully and promptly.
Regards,
Ed Jennings

Effective immediately shipping days will change to Thurs-Sat. My "other" job pretty much completely consums Sun-Wed. Little or no time those days to build or ship pushers.
Thanks for your support!
