I have been contacted by a forum member with a correction pertinent to the April sale event. It seems that there were actually three patriots involved in the incident in question, only one of which actually succeeded.

So, I have received a history lesson and I now have 3 names to watch for in this month's orders, any two of which will be sufficient to claim the discount!

End of the month tomorrow so this sale event is winding down. I learned quite a bit from this little exercise!

On the night of April 18, 1775 several riders were dispatched from Boston to warn surrounding communities of the advancing British troops under General Gage, intent upon disarming the colonists and seizing stores of ammunition.

Paul Revere was captured by the British. William Dawes lost his horse and was stranded. The actual warning was delivered to Concord by Doctor Samuel Prescott, and the British were met at the Old Stone Bridge with rifle fire (the "shot heard round the world" starting the American Revolution).

Among the other riders that night was a very interesting gentleman, Mr. Wentworth Cheswell, a free black citizen who also served as schoolmaster, constable, and justice of the peace in his home town and is generally noted as the first black citizen elected to public office in America.
