What vintage is this 357 Ammo
Can anyone give me an idea of the vintage of this metal piercing 357 ammo? A friend in Canada picked it up for me and will be bringing it down next month. Thanks, any info appreciated.

I agree. It is before the zip code system (1960's) and during the use of the three letter state abbreviation.
Beware, that could be considered "cop-killer" ammo because it will go "clean thru" a bullet proof vest.

+1 depending on what material the metal point of the bullet is made of, that could very well be restricted ammo.
*Edit* Well now i'm no so sure. Since it sounds like just the tip of the bullet is in question.

The definition of AP ammo is at 18 USC sec. 921(a)(17):
"(B) The term 'armor piercing ammunition' means-
(i) a projectile or projectile core which may be used in a handgun and which is constructed entirely (excluding the presence of traces of other substances) from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium copper, or depleted uranium; or
(ii) a full jacketed projectile larger than .22 caliber designed and intended for use in a handgun and whose jacket has a weight of more than 25 percent of the total weight of the projectile.

I wouldn't worry much about the restricted status of this ammo. very few if any bulletproof vests existed at the time this ammo was made. if you pulled a bullet you would find that the metal tip stops just below the case mouth. it was designed for shooting through the cars of the time. it is collector status now.
