Great test and great photography, thanks Lobo! I tested some of the same ammo four years ago and from a five shot string it averaged 1263 fps, almost identical to what you got. The ammo I shot was from a different colored box, but the product code is the same. I tested three 115 grain +P+ loads that day, and the Winchester finished second. Fastest was Remington at 1324 fps, and Federal way in the rear at 1212 fps. Thanks again for the test.

I have been carrying the PDX1 for my .40 and my .38 and I hear that stuff is overly effective as well, great test lobo, keep em coming

Thanks for the test. I've got a couple of boxes, but I've never run it over the machine.

You need to frame the AFTER photo and think of a cool new-age sounding title, like "Cosmic Induction", or "Trillion Dollars on a Ground Zero". Sell that puppy, and your financial future is secure. Forget your 401K, all you need is a pistol, some water, maybe a little food coloring, and your camera. Really good work!

I can only return the favor and thank you for posting!

If that is supposed to be a bonded bullet (I'm thinking not) then that test really says a lot. As it is, it's still of great value. That looks like a pretty vicious cartridge to get hit by! Personally, I'm a fan of the 115 gr.+P+ 9mm.

Picture #2 is as cool as a ballistic photo gets. :D

Is there any evidence that secondary fragments exited the jugs other than from the holes made by the bullet itself?

Since water is such a great expander of bullets, definately better than flesh, you might want to hang four layers of denim over the first jug so as to make the bullet's job a little harder.

Cool stuff, Lobo!

Your picture there of the "after" bullet makes me want to change my carry ammo. Currently I use Win Ranger 230gr +P for my 1911. Thinking about a bonded bullet now......

PDX1 for the win?

well I know PDX1 is definatly bonded and has some great ballistics, it expands to about .62 out of my SW99 in .40 so the 'expands to 1.5 times it's size' quote is correct

It's not a bonded bullet. To me it looks like the same bullet Winchester uses in their 115 gr jhp personal protection white box ammo, as well as the silvertip (save for the difference in color).

I added the pictures following the impact shot. The first jug was nearly split in half. The fragments pictured were found in the second jug, and on the table top. I'm sure there were more fragments that I just couldn't find.

Dragon88,

keep in mind that this test only shows what said bullet does against 3 angry one gallon water jugs, it's far from scientific :) . I think you have a good load for your .45!

This was the round the Illinois Sate Police used before switching to the.40 and is not bonded.
