At Walmart last weekend I grabbed up the 250 UMC cartons of .38 Special FMJRN 158 grain for 78.99 + tax. Good price for reloadable ammo. I bought 2 cartons. They did have a good supply. The .44 mag and .357 were very costly I felt compared even to the gun shops in my area. Shotshell ammo was low cost enough. Rifle ammo, some were very high and some were almost wholesale cost. 22's of any kind were very very high. CCI stuff seemed to be higher than usual. CCI small pistol primers were $5.99 a box, that is $2 more than I can get them from a gun shop. Their bags of cast bullets were high as well at $22.99 for 250 148gr lswc. Their powders were all almost $40 per pound (Universal, Unique, Trail Boss etc).
IMHO, there are a few deals here and there, but they have exceeded normal retail pricing and better deals can be found at the auction sites and the few really good online retailers.
I also went to Gander near me. They have all but gotten out of reloading supplies at the stores. Their online is still good as there is zero S&H charges except for the so called required hazmat fee's. Their online prices for ammo and reloading are somewhat high though. The store had three 1lb cans of powders I could not even find on my load charts, their primers were at $4.50 per hundred for small pistol, no bullets of any kind and the staff had ZERO clue about reloading needs.
All of this just IMHO.......
