22LR just keeps showing up on shelves
Purchased within the last two months.
Price was .05 to .057 (just under 6 cents per round).
Been getting them at Cabela's and WalMart.
One of my 617s that stays dirty from shooting 22LR.
I just keep throwing them in the the closet with the rest
of my stash. Thanks Cabela's and WalMart!

I sold a friend two bricks of CCI Quiet today for 7 cents a round. What I paid. 22LR is still MIA in Atlanta. But I have a stash+.

Still pretty dry here in East Central Indiana. Good news is, the scalpers at the last gun show didn't sell any of their over-priced 22's all weekend! I still work M-F 7-3:30, so I can't be at Walmart every day to buy any of what comes in. Once in a while I get lucky and find a few boxes (50), would really like to find a few full bricks, but not at $60-$120 each! One of these days, maybe... :-)

Not long ago I walked into a WM at noon for toothpaste. Went by the ammo counter, and the lady was putting out 4 1000 round boxes of M-22. There was another guy almost running to the counter. She pushed 3 at me and whispered "buy these, he resells on the internet, help me (expletive deleted) him". So I did. Pity my pistol does not like them. I carried them around in the car a few weeks. One day she asked if I had used them, told her no. She said my town PD was looking for some for training, but there hadn't been any. She made a call, and I horse-traded for some .45 range ammo (at real cost) a little later in the day.
I'm real sure it won't help me a bit for a traffic ticket, but at least the officer who gives it to me will be better trained.
Between Boy Scouts, Wounded Warriors, and the Police, I've resettled more .22 (at real cost) than I've fired the last couple of years. But there is a certain joy in my heart to leave a flipper in the dust.

Ammo cost at Wal-Mart hasn't gone down since 2013 gun control bill that got filed in the trash. I have quit selling to Walmart because they do not put it on the shelves when they are suppose to. Looks like if we all banned ourselves from walmart sporting goods they would get the message. I did send a email to walmart corporate office and told them that the .22s I sold to them were still in the back locked up and the shipping rap not taken off here in Omaha, So,each time they call,I go to their store and the say they don't have any. BULL. I go in the back room show them 13 pallets dated from 1-27-14 still wrapped and not opened.

22LR has become a regular shelf item at my local Academy.
Always some of some kind. From Aguila (50 ct), Federal (325 and 500 ct), Remington (50 ct), Bucket of Bullets (1400 ct), CCI (50 and 100 ct) and assorted others. All of this varies from 5.5¢ to 9¢ per round.
Also local GEBOS is having it more often. But they are stuck on 1 box (no matter the count).
One local Gun Shop has high end target ammo all the time but I can't pay target ammo prices.
Is nice to have it around though.
Still working toward my 30,000 rounds on hand ammo dump. Maybe in another month I will achieve my goal.

i've actually been able to pick up Fed auto-match lately at my local Gander (it works well in my Buckmark) and have passed on Remington that's been on the shelf at local WM (that ammo doesnt work well so i dont bother buying it). Still dont see much for CCI, lucked out finding mini mags once but that seems to be the one style I like that's still hard to "stumble" upon.
Been shooting for just 2 years but i can say while still somewhat difficult, it's dang sure better now then it was when i got my first .22 handgun end of '13. Was handed down a nice old colt challenger thru family, and for a couple months was only able to look at it on the shelf lol. Like being given a car, but with no license to drive it.

more 22lr
I have been pretty fortunate. Got these last week,
in Pierre SD. Clerk said I could have two boxes, told
one is good enough, someone else might need a box.
Just under 6 cents/round.
Threw them in the back of closet with the rest.
Have been passing on Remington Thunder Bolts at Cabela's
those were 5 cents/round. I just don't care for TBs.
Cabela's seems to always have something lately.

I thought they were going to stop making this stuff... at least what the hoarders around kept saying! Decent availability now and the hoarders aren't making enough to pay for their tables at the gun shows!!

'scuse me, but I believe you are confusing hoarders and flippers.
I'm a hoarder myself, and none of my hoard is for sale.

I have a very difficult time believing this post (putting it as politely as I can). It is not in the best interest of any high-volume, low-price store to long-term warehouse high-demand product in the back room. They stay in business by turning around inventory as quickly as possible, not by acting as a warehouse. Sorry.

Well now that you have made the majority of us feel bad I can only tell you in the NW things have gotten worse and I would feel OK about paying .10 per round if it were only available. I did see some of the 525 pack Federal selling for just under .10 per round delivered on GB and would have bought some but it is for a 10 brick lot. I am actually still considering it as it would be easy enough to take half of it and resell it for cost if you wanted to reduce your investment. The days of the .05 per round .22 have disappeared in our region.

It is starting to show up more and more here in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Luckily the larger stores that seem to have a steady supply also limit to 500 rounds a day or week which I think is really fair.
I have enough, but still can't help myself from buying it when I see it at a reasonable price.

Well, send YOUR shelves here! I have not been able to buy a brick of 22's since Thanksgiving Black Friday. Personally, I think the situation has actually worsened in these parts. I no longer believe the "Hoarder and Scalper" theory is the only valid reason we are not seeing more of it.

Only the high dollar stuff is showing up around here. Aguila Match for $60 a brick, nor reasonable priced RF ammo.

Here in sunny SoCal I am seeing a lot more variety of .22 lr on the shelves. I like CCI standard velocity and it is way easier to find now. I have a good pal who is an LEO for our county. He has just over 20,000 rounds of .22 stashed away so I have never experienced a shortage myself. Every time I raid his pile, I tell him I am keeping him from showing up on that strange ''Hoarders'' reality show. His goal is 50,000 rounds stashed away. It is good to have goals, I guess.

22lr on store shelves
I was fortunate again, 22lr just keeps showing up on the shelves.
I just don’t know what the Scalpers are going to do with all their
high prices ammo.
Arrived Walmart about noon Saturday to pick up a few things,
wondered over to Sporting Goods, and found these.
I shot up the other box from Cabela’s. I’m still up in the air about these.
They leaded up my 1956 Ruger 22lr Single Six, top strap above cylinder
gap and front of cylinder mouths.
My S&W 22lr Model 617-1 6-shot 4"bbl, leads at the top strap above
cylinder gap and cylinder appears ok.
After tax, 6 cents/round. Threw them in the closet with the rest.

Bass Pro was out yesterday here, and there was guy mad because they sold him a rifle, and no ammo. He said they should of told him how hard it was to keep ammo in stock.
Today while at the range, a woman who had to be in her 70's came in and they had 8 boxes for her. So I bought 2 boxes of Winchester hollow point, for my rifle. They were $13.00 a box.
They said they have plenty right now.

On 4-18 the Greenville, SC gun show was overflowing with 500 round bricks of 22 LR for $50 to $65 per brick. Go news -- not any buyers at that price.

22lr
Last week had to make a quick stop at Cabela's to check on something, after work (5:30pm).
Walked pass the 22lr ammo, and got these.
Cabela's must be putting out 22lr at different times now,
so the scalpers don't get them before everyone else.
.05 cents/round. Six boxes were remaining, no one even looking, or asking about 22lrs.
The previous week stopped at Walmart found a Federal 325 box, sorry no picture.

I checked just about every Wal-Mart between Michigan and Texas while on a trip last week, all I found was a couple 50 round boxes in Arkansas.
Haven't seen any in Michigan in a couple of years.

since a new Cabelas opened nearby a couple weeks ago (10 min drive, that could be trouble lol), ammo has been a little easier to get for the .22.
They have had something on the shelf each time i've wandered thru, and actually (coincidence? i think not) our local Gander has lately been keeping it on their shelf as well. The other day, they had everything from cheap Winchester and Federal bulk boxes to mini-mags. Still a limit, but the idea of even seeing something on the shelf feels like a positive. And for me, being able to grab a box here or there means more range time.

I long ago lost patience with scouring the area Walmarts and other places for .22. If I happen to walk into a LGS and they've got some for sale at a reasonable price, I'll buy some if it's something I want. If it's trash (Remington, not to mention any names), forget it. I've had good luck with online sources, and have limited my buying there to MiniMags and Fiocchi HV whenever I see it for $0.10 or less. I've got plenty, and have been giving away the lesser stuff to those in need.

local walmart had bulk packs on the shelf this morning. I picked up three and left one for the next guy. After this its going to be limited to CCI mini mags.

In the last 18 months I have been in and out of the 4 Wal-Marts around me fairly frequently, and I have only seen and bought 22 four times. The latest purchase was 3 boxes of 333 rounds of Winchester for 17.47 each. Now granted I am not the type to go out of my way to check but I do religiously check every time I am in Wal-Mart. So keep checking an it will work out.

The Walmarts near me do not sell guns or ammo. I'd have to drive quite deep into the next county to find ammo at a Walmart. It's not worth a half tank of gas unless I'm out there for something else such as a social occasion.
I've got quite a bit of .22 RF ammo from an estate and I find myself using it like it's coming from an eye dropper. Anyway, I've long since grown bored shooting .22 RF so my ammo just sits around growing whiskers. At the rate I use it, it should last me another 120 years.

Well, looks like "one of these days" has come around!
Past 2 weeks, local sporting goods store has had BRICKS/BUCKETS of 22 ammo on the shelf! Last week I was able to get a 525 pack of Rem Golden Bullet HP's @ $24.99 and a 500 pack of Rem Thunderbolts @ $23.99. They also had the Fed Auto Match 325 packs @ $19.99, but you were limited to only 2 bulk packs per day. Surprisingly, people walking around the ammo area weren't looking for 22 ammo? Usually, it's who can grab them first!
This weekend, same store had Rem 1,400 Bucket-o-Bullets @ $74.99. Even with tax, it comes out to $.057/round. Wish I could've afforded a 2nd bucket, but hey, I've been able to buy 22 ammo for 2 weeks at less than $.06/round-so I'm happy!

And I remember the days that most homes only had a box or two of .22 in the gun cabinet because the stores always had it on hand and at that price.
'Course, there were also no gun shows or the internet for hoarders to sell their ill gotten booty.

Two things: 1. As I stated above, hoarders and flippers are two different things. I am a hoarder. I have at least 20K rounds of .22lr "put back, just in case." My hoard ain't for sale.
2. You referred to "their ill-gotten booty." That would imply that they stole the ammo they are selling, or procured it through some other illegal method. They didn't. They bought it with the intention of selling it for a profit, WHICH IS THE AMERICAN WAY!!! Capitalism, don't cha know.

Two things: 1. As I stated above, hoarders and flippers are two different things. I am a hoarder. I have at least 20K rounds of .22lr "put back, just in case." My hoard ain't for sale.
can i have your stash when you die

I'm sure my heirs will have an estate auction.
You are welcome to make a bid.

2. You referred to "their ill-gotten booty." That would imply that they stole the ammo they are selling, or procured it through some other illegal method. They didn't. They bought it with the intention of selling it for a profit, WHICH IS THE AMERICAN WAY!!! Capitalism, don't cha know.

Just in case of what?
When you sell a 30-dollar brick of .22's for fifty dollars, that may qualify as capitalism. When you want one-hundred dollars, like some of the gun-show people do, it becomes greed and exploitation.

It took me 2 years to get a 325 pack at Fleet Farm.
I refuse to pay scalp prices and will NOT do , nor will I sell any for profit.
We are sometimes our own worst enemies. Plus the nutty rumors do not help!

I went grocery shopping this morning at my usual big box store that
has the usual super store features, lots of departments for one stop
shopping. Did my usual quick pass through the sporting goods area
and lo and behold they had a few boxes of 22 ammo on their usually
bare shelf. It was the first time I have seen a single box of 22s in
the store in more than two years. They had five of the Winchester
222 round bulk packs of LR HPs for 11.99 each. I bought three and
left two for someone else. I have quite a bit of 22 ammo but I
figured I better grab some anyway just in case it was a one time
occasion.

Once in a while I get lucky and find a few boxes (50), would really like to find a few full bricks, but not at $60-$120 each! One of these days, maybe... :-)

If you have a Dicks Sporting Goods Store, check on Mondays, Mine was selling 525 bricks for 29.99, one box only I stock up,
Had my son and girl friend go in and buy a brick each. did that until they ran out about 7 days in a row. I don't know why some stores can get it and others can't.

I'm reading that first thing and it took me back a couple decades... Redlevel, you devil you, hopefully you're not implying that you also have 20,000 lbs of sugar stored away in your basement!

We got too many ants to keep sugar that way, but I try to always have 400-500 lbs. of pool salt on hand.
Now I do remember when my old Granddaddy used to buy sugar in 50 lb bags. He said it was for Granny to put up peach and fig preserves, but I did hear him mumbling something about "sour mash down by the creek" one day.

No. No one is making the buyer pay more than they are willing to pay for 22LR. It's not happening. I will tell you one thing. If you are not stocking up on reloading supplies, factory ammo AR's, 1911's and parts then you will be crying in another year or two. Now is the time to stock up.
