Angry 5906 with novak sights shooting LOW!

Hey guy ,ive never written in to a forum but I recently purchased my third 5906. I bought a box of S&B ammo, shot all 50 and was pretty pleased with the accuracy ,I had to show too much front sight. The next box, same ammo, shot way low. My sights aren't elevation adjustable...any ideas, ammo change?

You could try a different bullet weight, other than that you would need a shorter front sight.

Try different ammunition and shoot if off a rest just to rule out you. I know it's your 3rd, but you never know.

If it's just for practice, I buy whatever brass cased ammo is cheapest! So winchester white box usually which is 115gr.

Hey guys, I found Federal Champion 115gr. fmj at Wally World(WalMart) for under eleven dollars a box! Winchester white box was over thirteen. Buy it up!

Assuming you are not committing one or more of the classic errors that send bullets low such as tightening your grip as you aim, drooping your head, anticipating recoil or jerking. The solution to shooting low is to modify or change the sights by raising the rear or lowering the front. Best to shoot off a rest or table to minimize shooter input, target at 25 yds and see where the gun is actually printing.

If the front sight is steel, take a small flat mill file with you to the range and start lowering it by a couple licks between test shots until your shots get to where you want them.

Another option would be to take it to a gunsmith or call S&W and see if they have a shorter front sight.

Personally I've found little difference at where commercial ammo hits at 25 yds. The 147's may hit a little higher than the 115's but they all will stay in the black of a standard 25 yds bullseye target if I do my part.
