Where can I find .38 ACP ammo?
Being the proud new owner of a Colt Pocket Hammer pistol, I'm needing to find some ammo for it.
It's variously known as the .38 ACP, .38 Auto, or .38 Rimless Smokeless.
I know it's the same case as the .38 Super, but loaded to a much reduced power level. I also know it's no longer made. I've put away my reloading gear, and since I've never owned a .38 Super, I have no dies for it, anyway.
I've scoured the internet, and all I could find was a case of it (10 50-round boxes) for over $200. I really don't need that much of it, and I'm not even sure I'll shoot it - just want some ammo to store with the gun. There was an outfit that reloaded it, but apparently they've gone out of business.
Anybody have some suggestions as to where to find it, or actually have some in the Phoenix area?
Thanks!
John

If all you want is a box to have around I'd look into this source: 38APCAuto

I do not know anything about the company.
If I had the dies I would load some for you.

John I take it you don't reload? (did not see the part about putting away your reloading gear)
I have a 38 ACP 1902 Military I don't shoot the old girl that often but with this load she is very good close up. Being a very light load it does not put very much stress on the old girl.

You never should have given up reloading: it's a lot easier than trying to locate hard to find stuff like 38 ACP (or 7.65 Long, 8X56R, or 7.5X54 in my case).

Just watched "100 Rifles" with Raquel Welch. When she is NOT in any of the scenes I took the time to notice the armament of Fernando Lamas playing the Mexican general, He was carrying two nickle-plated Colt .38s with ivory grips.
But then Ms. Welch came back onto camera and I lost track of anything else...for several days.
