Cost of 22lr ammo.....
I searched the net today and found a box of 50rds of 22lr was listed for $39.95. That makes a brick of 500rds = to $399.50. A 5,000rd case is $3,995.00. I think i can afford to sell some.
I need to go to my LGS and barter ammo for guns soon.

It's only worth that much if someone is stupid enough to pay it.
As long as there are takers at these prices we won't see any
end to this madness.

Went to a local show today, 22LR prices were way over the top. Bricks were going for 80 $ and up. AND- they were OLD, like 60's and early 70's, I expect sold for $4.95 when new or less. Sure glad I don't need any. 9MM, $60.00@ box of fifty. Insane--

Don't forget if we hit an all time low in a deep, deep depression a 22lr gun will put up to deer sized game on the table. For me thats very important.
My great uncle form Italy back in the 20's & 30's made bird catcha-tore. He would make one shot at all the small birds on the chicken coop roof and my aunt would make the meat in tomato sauce. It sounds silly today but if you had nothing to eat what would you do?

Can anyone share what they were paying just before the shortage. Like a year ago for say CCI Mini-Mags. I'm trying to get a base line cost (cost per round). It's hard to understand how high these prices are without a base. I've shot very little 22lr and when I did, cost and supply didn't matter). Now I'd like to have a price in mind in case I run across a good deal, or even a fair deal. Thankfully my father in law said he had a bunch. I thought around 1000 rounds. Not a lot but good for now.
I do know what I paid for 9mm ($15 for a box of 50 - Speer Lawman fmj). I think that was the last time I saw 9mm on-line. If I could get $60/box of 50, I'd be a seller.

And competition season is coming up. I just did an inventory of every loaded round of ammo, all primers, and all reloading components. I might make it if things don't stay this way for very long.

I had been buying CCI SV online from sgammo for $249/case. After Sandy Hook, I paid $279/case in December. My last order was at the end of January for $299/case. Since then sgammo has limited orders to a couple bricks. I think the last price I saw was $35/brick.
Dick's Sporting Goods had raised their price on CCI SV from $25 to $30/brick sometime in the Fall IIRC (before Sandy Hook) and I don't think they have raised prices since. When they raised their prices to $30 was the last time I saw any in stock (before Sandy Hook) and have seen none since.
Sportsmans Warehouse hasn't raised their prices that I know of. I bought a couple 100rd plastic box CCI MiniMags for $7.50ea. I don't shoot much of it but I'm pretty sure that's what I paid before Sandy Hook.
Cheap HV bulk pack was generally selling for a little under 4cents/rd prior to Sandy Hook.

Usually i'm perfectly happy shooting the cheaper "Brand Name"
ammo like the Federal or Winchester brand "bulk packs" 500-550. Before Sandy Hook they we're being sold for 19.99-21.99 most places i got it at. It has been almost three
months around here now since i have seen "any" on store shelves. It will come back. I will not be one of those who feed
the "buzzards" these ridiculous prices. I have a good "stash"
set back to get me thru this madness, i can wait.

Sportsman's Warehouse here in Chattanooga has .22LR ammo in stock every Monday. I know one of the gals who works there. The .22LR isn't put back in the gun and ammo area but rather kept up front in the customer service area. She tells me people start arriving at 0700 (store doesn't open until 0900) and there will sometimes be a line from the front to the back of the store. I think she said they had Rem 550, Fed 325 and something else today I forget.
Benton Shooters in Benton, TN has all the .22LR you want stacked high on the shelves at 2x(+) pre Sandy Hook prices.

It's amazing how people are now conditioned to "Pre- Sandy Hook" prices as being fair; or at least reasonable. Prices had been jumping like crazy every year.
Four years ago I paid $17 per brick for WW Power Points. Last year (Pre- Sandy Hook) they were $32 per brick.
Now they are ----- nobody knows 'cause there aren't any to be had.

+++ for those posted about ammo prices and folks being goofy (insert your own adjective) enough to pay the price!
Hate to break it to anyone, but there isn't going to be much of an incentive for prices to go down. We, my friends, have seen baseline prices reset!

I paid $99.99 for 1600 rounds of CCI 40 grain 22lr. That's $6.25 for each 100 round mini mag box or $0.0625 per round.
