I swear there seem to be a lot of folks on this board who are going out of their way to NOT find ammunition just so they can complain about it!

Solution: User CP -> Ignore List

Problem solved.

Of course, you could simply just not visit threads which you know are likely to push your berserk button.

You did tell me about buckeye and I thank you. I was just relaying info that my family told me, who stops in there a lot looking for ammo. But today is easter and I have more important things to do than search the state for ammo.

Just as the mesage above says I am a very new gun owner. I just bought a Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 and picked it up last Tuesday and then found that the gun shop I bought it at didn't even have ammo for it. I tried Walmart, Big 5, and other gun shops locally and no one has any in stock and I will not pay the outrageous prices I have seen online. So as of right now my M&P is completely virgin and I have no clue when I will be able to put some rounds through it.

I do not know where you live, but I was surprised to find .22 ammo in some of the rural hardware stores in Pa and even in NY when I lived there. There are some decent prices online for ammo lately, just have to look around. Shipping is the downside of online ammo shopping unless you buy bulk with free shipping. You just have to be reserved to the fact there is none and there will be no more $1.29 a box .22 ammo anywhere anymore .

Darn, makes me want to cry thinking about $1.29 ammo and 18 cents a gal gas, and..................sighhhhhhhhhhh ....the good old days!!

Erick, agree that the shortage is from a lot of the gougers! It is common with a lot of Wal Mart employees to but their lot first, hold the rounds for their friends and family ! And a lot of them reselling on FB as well at double the cost! Like others have said I pass on the over priced ammo. And like you get ticked off about it! I buy what I need and stock up on what I need and not to resell. I will be getting another 1k rounds of 9mm and 22 when I find a good price~ Thanks for the video link it is pretty good

Yeah, but things haven't changed much in the past two years.
Buy low... sell high. It's the American way.
I don't sell the ammo I buy but sure do miss the days when a box or two of 22 long rifle was all most people kept in the house because they knew it was easily found at most local shops and little country stores.

I buy when I see a good price, mostly to have new brass to reload. Don't need any ammo although I could use some Unique and Bullseye. People who buy and hoard every time they get an email telling them someone's coming for their guns are, in my opinion, idiots. I have a friend who paid between 1600 and 2400 dollars apiece for THREE AR's a couple of years ago because he was just sure they were going to be outlawed. He can't get a grand for any of them now and is about to lose his house. Fool. I like him, but it's his own fault.

Since we brought back a zombie thread I thought I would bring back a post I made from 10-27-2014. The bottom line is there is plenty of ammo out there so you don't have to go to Gunbroker to over pay for it. And if you are selling it there I also have no problem with that. It's up to people to decide what they want to pay.

Hi, I'm Jim, and I'm an Ammoholic

It all started after I bought my first 22. I woke up the next day and realized I now needed ammo. So I began driving around to all the big box stores trying to find some. There was nothing to be found!! "What did I get myself into" I said to myself. Then I found the In Stock Ammo thread and my thirst for ammo was solved. Wow, I can order it online, at home, from my computer anytime I needed it. At first I bought anything I could. Just to feel the rounds in my hands. But then when I had a good stock I only started buying my favorite rounds. I then realized there were other people like me out there, addicted to ammo!! So I decided to share my secret online and help others like myself. But much to my dismay people still preferred to drive around much like I did in the beginning hoping they would stumble on a rare 100 round box of CCI on a shelf. And others who would rather complain about those who do buy it, and that we are the problem. So I finally realized there is no hope for some people. Yes, I'm Jim, and I'm addicted to ammo. But I'm the one who will be out shooting anytime I want while others sit home talking about the old days, and the never to return to old day prices

I bought a case of 5K Super-X .22 after the last Clinton shortage subsided and prices were back to normal. That case remains unopened as my hard times supply. I had some 2500 rounds of .22 in my rotation stock when this madness started and have not bought a single round since.

I have a high quality air gun, that I formerly used to tune up my offhand shooting in preparation for deer season. I find that punching tight holes in paper with the air rifle is just as rewarding as with a .22.

I did recently buy 100 rounds of .30-30 and .308 each. My supply of those two were down to about 60 rounds each. Prices were up, but I did not consider them to be excessive. Also I have been able to get Unique and some rifle powders at mid twentys. Too high, but nothing like the $35-50 that I had seen. Primers have been plentiful at Cabela's for some time.

It's changed tremendously, because there is basically no money in ammo "flipping." If you continue to blame so-called flippers for the fact that you can't find ammo, you are deluding yourself. Take Federal Auto Match as an example. Almost the only major retailer that sells a 325 rd box for less than $20 any more is Walmart. Depending on your state tax, you can buy 3 boxes at WW for around $60. Those same 3 boxes on Gunbroker, if they have sold, have gone recently for $62 to $80. No one can seriously believe that people are waiting at Walmart to invest $60 to get $62. And Cabela's charges $66 before tax for those 3 boxes, Gander $69. Trust me, ammo flipping is over. If you can't find 22LR ammo, you're not trying. (assuming you live in an area where you can have ammo shipped)

I agree with Shakyshoot, Here in central Penna, There is plenty of 22 ammo, We are paying 34.99 for a 500 rd box of Federal, I just picked up a couple of Federal AutoMatch 325 box's for 18.99 each. It is showing up more and more, The days of a brick for 17.99 are over that's for sure.

I been buying my 9mm ammo online, Paying on average about 11.00 a box out the door with shipping. Not too bad.

In reading this old thread, I found this reply especially amusing...
How do people research buying a firearm, without also researching that caliber's ammo availability and price?

Back when this thread was new, I was actually working in a local WM's sporting goods dept. I had quite a few people fondling our .22s, looking to buy. Before starting the NICS and ringing them up, I'd always advise them about the .22 shortage and if they really wanted to buy a rifle they might not be able to go out and shoot right away due to 'No Ammo'? NONE of them even thought about that!

Some reconsidered and decided to wait, while others said they'd get it now (the price was too good to pass up) and just stick it away until the shortage was over.
