Solid deal on 9mm...I think. Is it any good?
Palmetto state has GECO 9mm Luger 124gr Full Metal Jacket Round-Nose 50rds for $13.99 and their shipping rates are also pretty low.
GECO 9mm Luger 124gr Full Metal Jacket Round-Nose 50rds 210040050 - 9mm Luger - Handgun Ammunition - Ammunition
I have never shot this ammo before but have read some good reviews. Supposedly Swiss or German made and pretty hot stuff...1181fps.
I ordered 2 boxes, if anyone has shot it please chime in and let me know how you liked it. I may buy more if it is still around.

I grabbed a 5 box limit a few days ago as well. It will be my first experience with Geco too but I'm looking forward to using some. My suspicion is this is NATO spec ammo; it should shoot nicely. If I run some in the next few days, I'll comment on my experience. Likewise, let me know how you find this stuff to run.

I'm glad to see others thinking in the right direction. For awhile there I thought i was the only one who wasnt worried about buying ammo.

I have used the Swiss made (124gr, NATO specifications) and Hungary made, both are very good, the Swiss made is the most accurate for me. I also have Norma 223 and Geco 223 (Swiss made), the Swiss made 223 has a muzzle velocity of 3314 ft/sec.

Geco is German made and is good quality. I have some made at least
20 yrs ago and it is indeed pretty hot, around 1200 fps 124 gr ball.
I bought a 1,000 rd case a few years ago and it is downloaded to US
spec, about 1075 fps. Still it's clean accurate good quality ammo.

I finally got around to my first experience with this ammo today. I used it in my Glock 17 and my Shield. It seemed to me it was a more mighty round than 115 gr FMJ versions of CCI Blazer Brass and CCI Lawman as well as Atlanta Arms reloads. Which by the way, Lawman and AA are my favorites. So I am very pleased with Geco. At near 15 bucks to the door, I just might have to buy more too Tahoe Dust.

Geco= Gustav Genschow, maker. Old German firm.
I've shot some of the 7.65mm/.32 auto years ago, in a pre-war Walther PP. Seemed fine.
If some of you actually do have Swiss ammo, please mention the brand and specs.
BTW, if you read the box, it usually tells you where the ammo was made. If you can't read German, English/German dictionaries are cheap at used book stores.
Sometimes, a company in one country has products made elsewhere. I like a Swiss brand of jams, preserves, fruit spreads. It's called Hero, and the company is Swiss, as are many of their products. But some of their fruit spread is actually made in Germany. SIG bought J.P. Sauer in Germany to let them market guns outside Switzerland without violating Swiss neutrality laws.
Modern Silva compasses are/were actually made in Finland, by their arch rival, Suunto! (Silva is a Swedish company.) I believe that the Swiss compass brand Recta is actually still made in Switzerland. Mine are marked that way
But if any famous Euro ammo makers are having cartridges made elsewhere than by themselves, I don't know who it may be. Would like to know.

I prefer the 124/125gr bullet weight in 9mm ammo over any other bullet weight. Every cartridge has it's sweet-spot bullet weight, usually the bullet that it was designed with. In the 9mm that's the 124gr bullet. When I bought 9mm ammo it was with a 124gr bullet and that's what I now load too.
I also like the 158gr bullet in the .38 Special, the 230gr bullet in the 45 Auto and the 250gr bullet in the 45 Colt.

The new Geco ammo is made in Switzerland (RUAG Ammotec), probably by the Thun ammo plant.

Already got mine, it looks very nice, and shots very well. I also have some Lapua 9mm, almost 80 cents per round (only ordered one box). The European (German, Swiss or Nordic) stuff are excellent, but expensive.
IMHO, Federal champion are one of the best plinking ammo.

I talked to them, they obviously can't produce enough at their Hungarian plant, so they produced a lot at Thun plant. I had some 115gr JHP made in Hungary, I don't like it, the USA still makes the best defense ammo lol.

The first 100rds I ordered came in early this week and got shot Wednesday. It ran great in my Shield and FS M&P. Seemed pretty hot. Good stuff. The other 400rds I ordered should be here Tuesday. I would not hesitate to buy more, especially if they run that free shipping promo. $14.99 a box to my door for this stuff is a steal.
Edit: Just looked and it is sold out now.

I have some GECO 9mm 124 gr. made in Switzerland, and the spec sheet said 1180 fps. I also some GECO 9mm 124 gr. made in Germany, and that spec sheet said 1260 fps. Both should only be used in modern 9mm weapons. (Not good for grandpa's old Luger from the Great War!)

attn Texas Star
...and Stoly vodka is produced in Latvia!
Just picked up a case of Geco 9mm at a show: apparently older issue, made in Troisdorf, Germany, same as the 9mm Geco I bought in the 1980s. My impression from old ballistics charts I no longer have is that some European loads are hotter than their U.S. mfgd counterparts: 9mm, .32ACP, .380ACP in particular. In the 70s at our range in NYC, PPK/s in .380 would regularly choke on U.S. ball ammo. Bet they would run well on the Geco stuff.

Just received another 500 rounds of 115 grain 9mm delivered to my door via UPS last weeks for $130.00.
Been ordering one a month for a while now.
