My LGS usually has both products in stock lately, 9mm Speer Lawman and Federal American Eagle. Both are 14.99 for 50 or 29.99 for the 100 rd pack of Federal AM. I like the 100 rd packs for ease of transport and storage especially. Since both are the same price, which is the better of the two? Thanks for any feedback. :)

Buy a box of each and decide for yourself. If you are only going to buy one, I'd vote for the Speer also.

Nice price either way. I was in an LGS a couple of weeks ago and the owner wanted to charge $34.99 for a box of 50 W-W .38 Special 158 grain LRN. I laughed all the way out the door and back to my car.

Best to buy a box of each and see which functions better in your gun.
Some bargain priced 9mm is so underloaded these days that it may
not cycle the action of all guns.

If prices are the same I'd buy the Speer Lawman. It is my understanding that Speer loads the Lawman to match their Gold Dot defensive ammo loads. It's quality ammo.

Given today's business climate and the fact that ATK operates both Federal and Speer, I would bet that they are exactly the same load- perhaps loaded on the same machines with just a headstamp die change (sometimes not even that). I would also bet that they would use the same 115/124/147 TMJ bullet and the same funky rose hued brass. Kinda like how the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable used to roll down the same lines at the same time. FYI- I have found Blazer Brass headstamps in my AE boxes before.

I don't know if they're the same load, but I don't think I could tell them apart. Neither one is underpowered bargain ammo. Without trying to dig up the exact numbers, both are around 365 ft/lbs muzzle energy, vs about 330 for the Federal Champion that Walmart carries, or UMC. You can tell they have a little more "zip" than either of the latter. I'd be happy with either one at $14.99 if I needed the ammo. When I bought my 2nd 9mm a few months ago, (Love my Shield) I felt the need to stock up so I bought a few boxes of Lawman at $16.99, which is about the most I've paid for range ammo. Then right after that I got 500 rds of AE for $149.99 and free shipping.
