I was at a store near here and next door was a Big-5 sporting goods store. I thought I'd check out their ammo.

$60 for a box of 50 9mm of an unknown brand!!!

I don't think so.

WOW! I'd let them keep it too. Our prices (NM) have been moderating over the past month or so and availability is getting better each week. Even .22s are showing up in Walmart. However, we'll probably never see "pre frenzy" prices again.

If I saw a price like that for 9mm I would just have to grab some sales person in the area. Then I would ask that sales person if they could open a box of that ammo so I could see the bullets. When they asked why, my response would be "because I've never actually seen Gold Plated bullets in real life, just in the movies".

If that becoming typical for ammo prices in California I would suggest that you folks either move or start taking lessons on using a Sword. Because it's rather obvious the State has determined one way to stop people from doing any recreational shooting is by making it too expensive.

So then whats a good price for a 50 round box of 9mm range ammo, in sunny Commifornia?
I bought a LLama .357 from Big 5 in the San Fernando Valley in the mid '70s. First of very few gun buys I regretted. It was very good at shooting anybody foolish enough to stand next to the thing. Me and another LLama owner qualified next to each other once. Thought we were both gonna die.

I have only purchased ammo online for the past 9 months here in the Peoples Republic of CA, mainly because there just isn't anything on the shelves and when there is it is way overpriced. Thankfully, we can still purchase online (for me it is usually factory reloads from Montana and Idaho).

I'm in Kolorado, aka Kolofornia since the take over, but normal 9mm price for 50 is around $15 ± $3 so to see a store with a price nearly 4 times the going price here was shocking to say the least. I told them they could keep it and I told the manager what everybody else was selling name brands for. He didn't care and I won't be back.

100 round fed value pack today at Wal-mart $25 and change they increased it buy $2 in the past month.

Haven't seen any 9mm here in Clark County for months. Last week, Wally's had 100rd packs of Fed .45ACP ball for $35, gone this week, no handgun ammo at all. They're getting in sporting shorgun loads now.

I saw a yellow 250 box of Remmie 45 acp yesterday in Wallyworld.....for 82 cents apiece!!!! $205/250=820/1000!!! Yikes.

Bought 100 Federal 22LR 1260fps lead HP for 8.99 at Cabelas. First 22LR ammo I've actually seen on the shelf there in nearly a year. Yes, limit was 1-100 round box or 2-50s.
