I'm confused. My local paper had an ad for Gander Mountain (there is one in my town) for Federal Champion Value Pack .22lr, limit 10 boxes. Box of 525 for $22.99. There is also a notation that it has an ONLINE #420349 item number. I went to the GM website and that number is not listed. I called my local GM and got a confused (see, I'm not the only one) salesman who eventually passed me off to the sales mgr. Sales mgr. said, "Yes, it was in the paper today." I told him I would like to get some but was told that they already sold out. I asked how many Value Packs they had been sent and he said he had about 14 sent to his store. I said I would like to get a rain check on the advertised 10 box maximum and he said it might be 6 months before they get any more in. I said OK. He said he was unwilling to do that and that I should have been there at opening that day to get what I wanted. I asked what the ONLINE item number was for and he said he had no idea. Has anyone had any luck ordering online and having it shipped to their local store?

Take the ad head to the local store ask for product. If out of stock. See store mgr and get rain check.
I understand the limited supply but you should be able to get a RC even if it takes six months to get it.

The weekly add will take you to the online product but as you might suspect, they are sold out. The number is as you listed "Item # 420349".

I've bought a lot of ammo from Gander online with free ship-to-store. They did have the Federal 525's for about 1/2 hr a couple of nights ago. I didn't buy it, but I did buy 6 50 ct boxes of Fed Champion solid points at $2.49, and a 375 ct CCI Swamp People box @$24.99. Buying online from Gander and Cabela's is tricky. So tricky you practically need hacking skills to get it. If you go to their site and click on the rimfire page, you'll hardly ever see anything till after it's sold out. What you need to do is save links to as many kinds of their ammo as you can, then check them frequently. Eventually you will find one that's in stock. When you do, you usually have about 5 minutes to buy it. Gander puts a lot of their stuff up between about 9:30 and midnight central. Also, if you keep Gunbot open with a .22 search, you have a shot at getting some ammo from Gander. Gunbot is often too late, but you do have a chance. This all sounds like a lot of work, but it's way easier than driving to Walmart at 5 AM. I keep my laptop on while I'm watching TV at night. Pick it up every half hour and check my sites for a few minutes, and I get all the ammo I need.

Gander never seems to be that "user friendly" on their brick and morter store buys. Fairly silly to advertise something with a limit of 10 and only have 14. I know many people accuse GM of bait and switch, but there's nothing to "switch" to. I really don't even expect to see any ammo when I go to the store. Basically I'm only there to pick up my online orders and ogle the guns.

Just another GM tactic to get people into their stores. There is stiff competition around here and they're gettin' their butts kicked.

We've got the GM Firearms Superstore around here less than a mile from Cabela's. When I was there a few days ago there were about 6 cars at Gander. At Cabela's people were lined up at 5 checkouts and they had 5 people working customer service, and a long line there. So yes, they are getting their butts kicked. As far as trying to get people into the store, studies have shown that when people come in for a doorbuster and don't get it, they're far less likely to stick around and spend more money than a happy shopper who just got what he came in for. I know if I go in for specific item and it's not there, I'm headed for the door.

You may be talking about the Rogers Mn Gander and Cabelas down the road. I get to that Cabelas frequently. And I have been in the Gander Super Store 3-4 times. Never spent a dime as prices for the things I buy were off the chart high. Example, lead shot was $59.95 a bag. It sells for high $40s range several places in the area. The wads I use in 12 Ga, $14.99 a bag. Most places they are $10.99 - $11.99.
I am not blowing Cabelas horn, but saying they sure beat Gander on prices.
I have a friend that used to work at Gander. I asked him "what is Gander thinking"? He said they are after the impulse or last resort buyer. Not sure that's true, but even if it is, I don't know how they survive.

You are correct on Rogers. I rent space in the antique malls there, so I'm there twice a month. The only .22 I've ever bought at Gander was some CCI Standaed when they had it at $3.99/50. Still no great bargain. Can't usually touch their centerfire ammo. I did buy a Blazer Brass 9mm 350 box at their Black Friday price of $109.99 only because I had just bought my Shield and I needed 9mm. (no I didn't go there on Black Friday.) They do sometimes beat Cabela's for online pricing of .22LR, but it's tough to get any of it. Their gun prices are another matter. They've got the SAR K2 .45 I have my eye on at $579, and I can get it online esewhere for $412.
