It depends on their hardness and how fast you drive them. Hard lead at low velocities should cause minimal leading.

Not as a general rule.
My lead bullet loads are usually not hot enough to cause
leading.

Moderate leading is not a problem if you keep the gun clean.

Been shooting full lead wadcutters thru my S&W model 36 and Ruger Sp 101 for sometime now..no problems except, like most .38 ammo it can be a little smokey at times.

Get a Lewis Lead Remover from Brownells. Whatever lead that is in there will come right out. Truly a miracle product.

Thanks for reply. When I use a brass brush I wrap a piece of copper scrubber around the brush. That helps greatly.Squib

I've been shooting lead for 30+ years with no accuracy related leading issues. I got a hold of an older Model 15 that I swear never saw a cleaning rod. Prior to my detailed cleaning of the barrel, the gun shot straight and true despite obvious leading. An 'easy' way to clean your gun is to bring a couple of jacketed bullets with you and shoot them last...before packing up and going home. Quick effective way to speed clean your barrel....

Swaged pure lead bullets can usually be pushed about 800 fps without a problem, hard cast bullets can be loaded to near maximum velocities in many cases.

^^^^^ What pownal55 said. I haven't had a bit of leading in many years keeping the soft lead ones down around 800fps.
