Magtec 22lr ammo 40 gr standard velocity. Does anyone know much about this brand of 22s? I have not tried any yet. Any issues or good reports.

My LGS has a good quantity of this ammo in stock. May pick some up tomorrow.

Let us know how it works. I assume you have a S&W 22c lr?

I have one too, but have never shot it yet. I use a Mosquito, and only cci mini mags. I have a small amount of cci 22 standard velocity....but won't use it in the Mosquito...but probably try it in the S&W. If it works well, I would be interested in your new brand you found.

After thinking about this, let us know how it does and give us an idea of what it costs.
I may wanna try it in place of the CCI SV if price and quality checks out.

I just fired 100 rounds of the Magtech std velocity in my K22.

My very subjective observation, only for this revolver that I shoot every week, is:

1) Ammo seems as accurate as CCI standard velocity and more accurate than the bulk stuff by Federal, Winchester, CCI Blazers and Remington Golden bullets.

2) Ammo is dirtier than most brands I use (except CCI Blazer);it has a waxy coating which the Blazers don't seem to have.

3) Misfires are much more common than the brands listed above. I had 15 misfires out of 100 rounds; 8 fired the second time around, five required removal and rotating before rechambering, two rounds wouldn't fire no matter what I tried.

It may work fine in some of my other rimfires; I probably would put this toward the bottom of the list for this particular K22. I haven't been particular about the rimfire ammo I shoot the last couple of years; I shoot what I can find for sale, when I can find it.

Yes, it is made in Brazil, not Mexico.

I agree Magtec makes good ammo, brass and other loading components. Although I have never shot their .22LR ammo I see no reason to think it's not of the high quality of their centerfire ammo.

i havent tried it in .22lr (but have used their 9mm with no issues); guess if it were me knowing how finicky my .22 handguns could be i'd just grab a couple boxes and see how they ran before buying too many rounds.

I have shot several hundred rounds of the 22lr Magtech through my M&P 22 and my 15-22 without issue. I did not have any misfires at all.

I've only gone through about 150 rounds of the Magtec .22lr so far, but would happily purchase more. No failures, and groupings about as tight as the CCI mini-mags when using my Ruger Mark III Target.

I'd rate the Magtec .22lr higher than the Remington Thunderbolts, Goldens, and the new Remington 22 Target.

Any 22 ammo out there is better than the Thunderbolts, that is the worst ammo I've ever used.

Not 22 but I have used the 45 colt with good success and the price was right , about 20 bucks less than name brand ammo at the local "stealer"

I'd like to update my previous post on Magtech rimfire ammo. Recently I fired 100 rounds in my 18-2, 100 rounds with my 617 and 100 rounds in my 34-1. Ammo was accurate with no misfires.

The K22 I previously tried this ammo in has a little more freeplay than my 18-2, 617 and 34-1. Although I don't have problems with other brands of ammo in my K22 this freeplay is enough to cause ignition problems with Magtech. Works fine in the 18-2, 617 and 34-1.
