Default $5 Five Minute Demooner

Yesterday it became apparent that I had yet to need a demooning tool until I had some loaded rounds to remove from a clip. Until then I had been using the end of a pen to pop off empties.

Scrounging for some suitable stock I came across a hose coupler.

It isn't pretty but it works just fine.

Clever improvisation. Slip on a longer piece of hose, cork the end, let it collect the contents of a clip, then dump them into a container as a group.

I bought two sizes of demooners that work the same way before seeing creatively made demooners on line. The home made ones that look most similar to Brownell’s are made by cutting off an old golf cub handle. I have a couple old golf clubs I should cut down before they wind up in the garbage.

That length of hose works out perfect for dropping them into my hand.

Nice job! Made mine out of a length of 1/2" copper water pipe. Drilled a hole thru the open end and inserted a pin thru it as a shell stop. You can also crimp the end a bit for the same result.

Thumbs up

Oh thank you so much for posting this with a picture!! There are so many troglodytes on this forum who curse moonclips cuz they're just too difficult. Perhaps your post will bring some into the sunshine.

Looks like your connector is brass which will last longer than copper.

To be honest I'm mostly using the oft maligned Rimz clips. My SD ammo goes on the steel.

I used copper tubing for mine.

Made it long enough so the brass drops into the 5 gallon bucket on the floor.

A piece of foam pipe insulation for a handle.

Never calculated the cost
