Default HSM 158 grain .38spl LSWC Police Ammunition marked "Service Load"

Hey everyone,

So I came into a few boxes of this ammo today and have been trying to dig up some info about it online, but can't find anything regarding boxes designated as "Service Loads". The only thing I can find is about the boxes marked as "Range" or "Target".

I looked on their website and they list data for their low velocity rounds which I would assume would pertain to the Range and Target varieties.

If anyone is able to help, what I'd like to know, is:

-Are these are supposed to be hotter than standard target loads?

-I know they used mixed brass, should these be loaded to standard pressures even though some of the cases are from +P loads?

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Last time I used their stuff, it was a plated 158gr swc.
It averaged low to mid 600s in a 2" colt cobra, low 700's from a 2.5" model 242 L frame .38sp. Not really 'duty' strength....but your stuff might be different.

Why not contact the company and ask them, then let everyone know what they say?

There does not appear to be a similarly described load in their current product listing. I believe they use new brass now, instead of re-cycled as in the past. This could have been around for awhile.

Ya, I planned on that tomorrow, but was just curious to know if anyone from the forum had experience with them so I could shoot some off today.

Their website has a link for LE/Military offerings, but it's only accessible with a password. Perhaps there is some info about it there? I tried typing in "password", but I guess they're smarter than that, because it didn't work...

I'll post up what I find out.

Cheers,

Four Eyes
