Default 5.56 x 44 mm

My AR15 sport is stamped 5.56 on the barrel . Will the ammo marked with the 44mm on it work ? I see this on the shelves but not sure if it's ok to use

Don't you mean 5.56X45? I am not familiar w/a 5.56X44 round. A milspec AR has a chamber for the 5.56X45; some lower tier manufacturers cut them for .223 and sleazy ones mark them 5.56X45. Depending on the manufacturer, it may be appropriate to get the chamber reamer from Ned Christiansen. I was at a Dean Cuputo class in 2008 and saw one used; many of the rifles in attendance were too tight and the reamer opened them up. Try googling "The Chart" for AR rifles and you might see some interesting info.
