Default CCI .22 LR Quiet

Took a box of this ammo out into the Nevada hills the other day
and took a table and chair this time with a sand bag and even my chrony.

Had a new scope to put on and dial in on the auto to replace an old one that had seen its days and not clear any more.

It took eight shots to tune the win 61 pump into a straight shooter for 15 yards for any unwanted critters in the back yard.

After putting the scope on the Marlin Auto, I got down to business with the first shot............
Woha baby.........
2 3/4" low and 1 1/4" left. So much for my "Guesstamation".
three shots later and I was getting there and finally shot 6 just off the side and #7 taking out the number printed on a sheet of paper that was 1/4" tall.
Next time I print that target sheet out I will have to hit the "Bold" key, for these old eyes.

Final fine tuning came from the full "Soda pop" can distance........ first hit gets a big surprise !!

It was interesting to see that the pump only got 640 fps out of this load, with a "Closed system".
The Auto, that would not eject this low energy load, managed to get 695 fps. Maybe a lot newer barrel has something to do with this?

Any way, it is all good and ready for the kids, when they want to get out and get some fresh desert air, instead of that city junk.
Later.

PS:
Did I mention that it is really nice not to have to put the ear muffs on !!!

I can't get this load to chrono 640 from a pump, 695 from an auto, or 6-anything from a handgun. I can't even get this stuff to feed into anything because I haven't seen it in person, and doubt I will for a year or more. I hope to try it someday. Sounds like a nice load for my supressed 10/22, even if it doesn't cycle.

I have a lot of Quiets. The box I believe claims 710fps. I use it with my 17-2, Henry Lever and 77/22 suppressed. I can't get it to cycle any auto loader. Midwayusa has it in stock on occassion.

I like it. Sounds about like a nail gun being used, which is great in my semi-rural area.

In a rifle they ARE pretty darn quiet but in a revolver they do make a more noise than I'd like to hear without ear protection, I have not fired them yet from a 22 Auto as I sincerely doubt that the Quiet .22's would cycle the action.

I have also found that in a Rifle even though they are pretty quiet, their accuracy while good enough for squirrels, rabbits and chipmunks etc. at close distances is not "tack driving" accuracy. All in all not a bad plinking round for situations where noise is a problem.

I set one of my Rem40x up to use the Quiets. The 40x comes with a 27 1/2" barrel which really helps reduce the noise on these rounds. They make very very little noise out of that long tube.

I am getting 1/2" accuracy at 50 yards out of them. So far they have accounted for several crows around the wifes chicken coop. I ordered my first brick to try them and after getting shooting a few I ordered another 4 bricks to keep on hand.

We fire 15,000 CCI Quiet rounds at camp each summer from bolt action and lever .22 rifles. The CCI Quiets are accurate and we have yet to have a single dud. Great stuff. There's no finer ammo for teaching kids to shoot .22's. Also great for .22 revolvers.
