Steel case 9mm Winchester at Cabela's
I saw in a sales flier from Cabela's that Winchester has
steel cased 9mm ammo now that they are calling "Forged".
I can't help but wonder if they are actually producing it or
just importing it.

Never heard of Winchester Steel cases, but I'll bet it's nothing more than Wolf or Tula that is being made for them.
Personally I'd stay from steel cases as they are hard on your gun and extractor. For a time I was shooting Wolf steel out of my M1 Carbine and did go through a few extractors as they do get chipped and will no longer reliably extract. Now all I use is Brass and have installed a new extractor.
Not that it means a whole lot for punching holes in paper, but the Wolf ammunition was also 100fps slower than the USGI spec is. I did actually chronograph it as I did the USGI surplus ammo which is spot-on.
"you gets what you pays fer"!

Nope made in the USA and at Wal-Mart price looked to equal 150 rounds for 100 rounds of brass for .45's.

Hornady uses steel cases but they import theirs from Russia. It is "assembled" in America. ....for lack or a better word. Bullets, powder and manufacturing of ammo is done at Hornady but the cases come from Russia
Everything I could find points at US made but they don't exectly say it like that. Instead it's fancy phrases which leads me to believe the cases are imported. I could be wrong though. Either way I'm all for more ammo.

I prefer the Herter's brand Aluminum cases from Cabelas. They are CCI/Federal.
