Default Any deals on 38 ammo

Does anyone have any leads on 38 in bulk. I guess what I'm looking for is going to be 148 or 158 loaded ammo. So far I have found GA Arms has 148 that would cost me $300/1000 to my door. Precision Delta has 148 for $232/1000 or 158 for $240/1000. I have shot the Ga Arms and it seems to be good stuff. I have never shot the PD stuff and am a little nervous buying 1000 rounds. I will mostly be shooting steel plates at the range. I have considered reloading and I know its the cheapest route but I always get frustrated trying to gather components.

Check out the listings on Ammo Seek: 38 special ammo handgun

If you stick with factory, brass cased ammo from a name brand, you are usually assured of reasonable quality. Commercial reloads . . . not so much.

Just my experience, of course. YMMV

Best of luck, sir.

ammoseek is a great place to find good price and availability.
I had bought some wad cutter reloads in 38spl and had to send them back. The head rims were to thick and casings were slightly bulged which caused the cylinder to jam. They replaced with another 1000 that are okay. Have to inspect any ammo for problems.

I've shot quite a bit of the GA stuff...mostly 147 grain wadcutters and 158 semi-wadcutters, new and remanufactured, and I haven't had any problems. Obviously the new costs a little more than the reman stuff.

Supposedly there is some .38 Tulammo out there...I see the section marked for it at Walmart, but they're always out. I would think it would be pretty cheap, I'd give it a shot if they had some in stock.

I use Precision delta bullets for my .38 reloads and wound not hesitate to buy their 148 grain wadcutter loaded ammo.

I suspect that is the Perfecta label. My WM has it often. Have not tried it, but the other Perfectas I've tried run fine.

OP - try SGAmmo.com. Their stock varies by the day, if not the hour, but I have had good service and prompt shipping with them.

sgammo.com has some decent deals, as low at $12.95/box.

Another vote for Georgia Arms. Shot lots of their reman LWC and LSWC rounds with no ill affects. I mostly buy my defensive ammo from SGAmmo.com cause the sell the 50 round boxes of the premium LEO ammo at great price. Their inventory does rotate, but I usually find what I want or get notified when it comes in. I haven't bought any bulk commercial range ammo from them, but their prices aren't bad either. Their customer service is great too.

Just a note, you frustration with trying to find reloading components probably won't be as bad as in the past. Finally after almost 7 years there are fairly good supplies of all components available including powder and primers. It's not perfect but much better, finally!
