Default "Love a Senior Citizen Today"?

I'm a senior shooter that CANNOT FIND .22 ammo! Like many others I suffer the problem festered by hoarders and re-sellers.

Wally is a 50K RT and same person buys it all as it comes in on the truck. Dick's will not allow phone orders and limits it and hoarders get most when you do happen to be there (3hour RT).
Cabela's has a new store opening in Spring '16 )(same 3 hour RT) and their website says they do web orders delivered free to store even on ammo-seems I need that store to open? Natchez SS most is out of stock and all is hazmat shipping like all web sellers?
Otherwise I have zero idea how to buy any .22?
If you know a secret source, PM me please...
And "love a senior today!"

Last week I bought two 100 round boxes of CCI Mini mag out at the Kirtland, AFB Exchange.
They cost so much that I almost can't afford to shoot them!

There is a fairly decent supply around here (MA) these days... although Walmarts can still be a challenge since they are the undisputed price leader. You need to hit them on the right day & time or forget about it.

And down in Little Rhody, I found a shop that has any and all the .22 LR ammo you could possibly want sitting out there... by the case if you are so inclined. All it takes is money!

Cabela's and Bass Pro usually each have something. Maybe not all brands all the time... but it's rare to walk away empty handed if you aren't too picky.

Have you checked any small local shops? Most around here are loaded with 22, not cheap but it's there.

Was in W-mart this morning to get a can of .177 pellets-- spied a case of Stingers on the counter and since my Colt conversion love the HYPER stuff I ask if they had any 22's, just to see what she would say-- yes we do was the reply so I picked up a couple boxes. Left the rest for someone else in more need. First 22's I have bought at wm in 5/7 years.
Oh Yeah- $6.00@ box.

Funny, but I found my first .22 LR's at my local Walmart last Monday after a 22 month gap.

Is that crazy or what?

Even though I really didn't 100% absolutely need them... I had to buy them.

That's where/ when I occasionally score some here at their Vegas store.

I don't "have" small, local shops. There are some spots within a 50 RT that have brands I don't want at prices I wont pay.
For the record there are no red lights here (Traffic kind ), no gun stores, no fast foods, no factories,no gun clubs to do group buys, no lots of things. I wasn't looking for "your reality" I was living in mine. A place that's cheap to live and hugely scenic/outdoorsy-lots of good things are here, just not a retail oasis.
Sportsman's Warehouse had no small pistol primers nor .22 when I was in there last. Clerk said the primers go by end of day and the .22 early in a.m..
When I scored some .22 in wally world early last friday during the beginning of a snowstorm and few people were out, I was after a battery. There were 2 store managers present-standing over the sales, obviously there for some reason, to observe, I suppose?, as the clerk sold the .22 Winchester/100 red trays @ $8.39 each, 3 per customer-one guy got 6 as wife got "hers".

I noticed Midaw charges a $20 standard haz shipping fee-is that pretty much the norm?

Another .22 tidbit- I was asking about .22 in a Lexington,KY wally store couple weeks back and the clerk said he wasn't the regular sporting goods guy but "store talk" was this:
that around the country people had figured out how to learn when a certain stores truck was coming in, day/time,etc., and they would buy it up. He said he knew that walmart has since become aware and no longer can the public know truck info online unless an inside source tells you such. He said a store manager cannot establish policies that limit sales it has to be from corporate offices.
The guy that sold me .22 at walmart recently, I'm going to ask him why he was being watched. He normally is working as the order guy that walks around in grocery with the gizmo that orders go in on. He, in fact was my wifes college student some years back and given they know each other, he'll not mind my asking. So the fact that he's obviously a trusted employee makes me wonder about that situation. maybe they've had past problems with people quarreling over ammo or the limits on sales per person.
The ideal thing for me would be a local shooter that we share the shipping but not many I know.

If you have a Gander Mountain near you they generally get CCI in quite regularly. Bought five 100 rd boxes just recently for $8.95 a box.

If you have an Academy store near you then call and find out when they get their ammo shipments in. Mine is on Thursdays and I call early in morning to see what they got in. If they have it I beat feet to the store and score. I got a bucket of 22lr last time I did that.

Yeh, GM is real handy, only about a 4-5 hour drive. Academy-I've heard of them, never seen one.
Last Friday I asked the sporting goods man in wally if any .22? It was late in day and we both chuckled, then he said they had none since the big snow a couple of weeks ago. I ran a similar "finding .22 ammo thread" on Rimfire Central forum the other day and this lady in LV,NV says wally gets it there often. The moral of the story is that population centers get more stuff . My wally doesn't get enough Milo's unsweetened tea either, so go figure...
Smog in SW,VA. fact is the Smoky Mtns have more air pollution than you might realize! One of my sons is an atmospheric scientist and there is a trailer full of scientific air polution equipment in the park which remains there all the time. Various universites come and go using it to do air quality studies. Airs not as clean as we want to think here!

Sorry about the .22 problem. I face it also. My best luck has come from going to Walmart about 0700 when I am in town. The manager will tell you if there is any in back, they sell it at 0800 with a limit of three. Each store may have a different time. I have bought a lot there, but it isn't cheap. I have 3 rifles and 4 pistols that shoot .22lr.

There's a similar thread on Rimfire Central about hoarding vs. gouging vs. material cost increases,etc.. IMO, the current situation is hoarding as worsened by the shooting hobbies of the "tactical crowd". They are not into "sight picture for a shot" style shooting like I practice-even when I plink! There's a huge difference in the gatling, black rifle approach what with banana clips and thousands of rounds involved and people shooting for accuracy. Yeh, it might be America but their ammo appetite isn't helping me buy a small amount of ammo.
Tell me how you shoot 6,000 rounds in a short time?
One person on rimfire said they'll need ~ 10,000 rounds just to learn to shoot a handgun, point & shoot style.Hmmm...
It's a good thing our military doesn't need but 300 rounds allowance to train a combat shooter. My Marine son said that's the current allocation for them. Truth is that target shooters dry fire much of the time. Live rounds are for the purpose of competition and validation of improvement during practice. Then there's the ammo hogs trying to win their private wars by blasting away...
Yep, that's how I feel about it.
