Default Monarch Ammo

Any one know anything about Monarch 9mm ammo?
Academy sure does stock a lot of it.

Monarch Brass works in some of my guns but not others. Hard primers I think. I don't use the steel. I grade their ammo as fair at best.

I bought a box of hollow points, mistook it for target ammo. Still never shot it. I don't know, a part of me thinks it's just as good as any other JHP, but I'm not sure.

Last I checked Monarch brass cased ammo is made by Prvi Partizan of Serbia and the steel cased ammo is from JSC Barnaul of Russia.

I've used some Monarch brass case in 9mm, 38, and 357 with no issues. I don't use steel case at all (local range rules), so can't comment on that. I looked at their 308, and wrote it off immediately, as the cases had burrs and rough edges I found unacceptable.

I bough a box of Monarch 9 mm steel..It shot well in my Kahr CW9..The rds seemed to be over lubed, makes it somewhat difficult to load mag's in the cold...What do you expect for 9 plus bucks ?

I've run it in the past. Had .380 and 9mm. Both had hard primers and quite a few needed a second or even third strike to go off while some wouldn't fire no matter how many times you hit them. IMO there's much better stuff out there for not much more money.

Check the bullets. Last time I checked the bullets where bi-metal. A thin coat of copper over steel, a lead core.

I have also understood Monarch is made by Prvi Partizan. I haven't used any, so no recommendations or raspberries are possible.

Monarch is just a name. The ammo comes from various sources.

I have never used Monarch ammo, but when I took my CHL class, the instructor said we could use any ammo other than Monarch or reloads for our range qualification. The reason was that on two separate occasions, shooters had squibs with Monarch. So, I have been inclined not to even try it.

Thumbs down Junk!

Bought 4 boxes of 9mm, 115gr, FMJ, Brass on a recommendation of one of the salesman there. Will never buy this **** ammo again! Constant failure to feed issues, jams and misfires in two of my guns.

Guess it is true.....You get what you pay for!!
