Cabelas has had CCI Mini Mags 36gr 300 rnd boxes available on line for several days, 2 box limit. I ordered some 3 days ago and they still have it listed on line. It is usually gone in a matter of minutes or hours at the most.

Not around here.. a little more available but not always found.

My Academy stores are full, 50 - 100 round boxes, but at increased prices, and without the CCI Mini Mags. I see it as the regular buyers passing on the higher prices. Even Remington Golden Bullets are $9.99/100.

Wal Mart is always "bare shelves" for .22.

The drought is over. But the lake isn't back up to normal level.

My Cabelas always has Remington Golden bullets at 9.99
per hundred. On occasion they will also have some Federal
Match 325 rd. and some CCI quiet. Also various makes of
others the new Browning, Norma, Eley, RWS, etc...
The days of under a nickel a round are gone i'm afraid but
it is available now. At least around me.

If you'll settle for any .22 LR rounds at any semi-almost-reasonable prices, you can usually score at our MA Cabela's or Bass Pro these days. If you have a specific want or need... good luck to you.

At our local Walmarts, it's still less than 1 in 20 trips in which you'll find any .22 LR rounds at all.

When I see a box of CCI Pistol Match, Select or Green Tag I'll think the drought is over. Not that I can't live without those, just that I can remember when I had such options. Haven't seen Stinger or Velocitor in years, either.

If I visit my 3 local Walmarts a few times a week at about 8AM I can usually find some type/brand of .22

Last week I got a bucket of 1400 Golden Bullets for $70.74 and 3 weeks ago I got a 1000 pack of M-22 for $49.79

Powder prices are on the rise.

Bass Pro Powder prices average $5 to $6 per lb higher than Cabelas

The Cabelas,a 45 minute drive,has the best powder,primer and bullet prices I've found locally recently.

We have a Walmart in our town of 2,500 for various reasons, so you get to know everyone who works there, and you can get a pretty accurate view of a lot of things just talking to the folks there. The last time I talked to the sporting goods guy, he said that the same groups of people who are retired, don't work the normal hours, or simply don't work, come in when they are put on the shelves and buy them as soon as they arrive. He said he hears people all the time bragging "I already have thousands upon thousands of rounds at home, but I still buy em up anyway" meaning that the same pigs hogging up supply during the worst of the crisis haven't quit. I'm starting to think there are people out there who have 100K 22 rounds, and would buy up every brick that came into the store if the store allowed them.

Learning to cast bullets on my own, I can make .38 Special light target loads for $0.04 now anyways. 22lr is a good old friend, but I gave up on seeing a reasonable supply a long time ago.

I picked up almost 5000 rounds this weekend through multiple trips to Cabelas. Remington 1400 round buckets x 3. I also picked up some other smaller count boxes.

More available but they still sell out fast and cost more than I paid for my AK Russian Wolf ammo. Walmart almost never has any. The employees snatch it up.

The last .22 ammo I bought was online, but they always have a 1 or 2 count limit and the postage is high. Add 9 or 10 cent a round and it's just too much. If I could buy at least 5,000 rounds, it would make more sense.

Several weeks ago I was in the local Academy store. They had lots and lots of .22 LR, various brands, stacked on the counter, and no purchase limit. For the most part, too expensive for me to buy, but the 550 bulk packs of Remington was around $35 as I remember - that was the cheapest. Other brands were around a dime per round or more. Fortunately, I have a fairly large stash bought long before the 2008 panic, and I don't really need to buy any.

More often available....but not always. If desperate, some one nearby will have Thunderbolts.

As for price, I used to buy the federal bulk packs of their auto match for 17...now 23 to 25. Until inventory remains steady, I doubt we will see prices come back down.

Our local wally world has not had 22rf on the shelves since this crazyness started. They did have some CCI rat shot. So I'm guessing the little elves who seem to know when its coming in are there to pick it up. Could be the store employees are not putting it out on the shelves and selling to friends. It's not over where I live. I don't see any .22LR ammo for months at a time and then only one box I'd 10 is on the shelf. I just can't believe this is normal supply & demand. According to CCI they are producing 4 million rounds a day. Add in Remington, Winchester, Federal and all the others here and abroad there must be 20+ million rounds A DAY being made.

If you want to produce real change, change the hearts and minds of the children. This so called shortage just might succeed breaking the "gun culture" that is so hated by those who hate guns. It's been 7 or so years now since the kids can't shoot, now they don't love shooting like we do. Change the hearts and minds of the children. (rules for radicals)

Small pistol primers are where the drought is now around here.

Sounds like a "micro-aggression" against us poor, old, retired folks to me. Might even be a macro-aggression!

I do remember the days when I had to stand in line outside the doors of my local Walmart waiting for them to open at 7:00 AM. Then I had to run as fast as my HBP and mega-painful hips would allow to get back to the sporting goods department before the "youngsters" behind me so I could snare my share of any .22 LRs that had come in and been put out overnight.

But that was back in 2013 and 2014. I find it hard to believe that ritual is still happening when you can easily score .22 LR rounds today at Cabela's and Bass Pro and many of the larger gun shops. True, you might not get the particular rounds you desire and at Walmart's low prices, but you will usually find something to make noise with!

We have a storage limit here in moonbat MA. Unless you obtain a permit from your local Fire Department, which is not necessarily a great idea, you are limited to 10K rounds of rimfire ammo per structure.

I consider myself to have a lot of .22 LR ammo, but I'm still under the legal limit. I doubt too many of us dirt poor retired old coots here in MA are near the legal limit let alone over the limit. Most of my ammo money still goes to centerfire and that keeps me forever on the edge of broke.

Yes, there may be exceptions... but I don't think it's the norm as I see little remaining incentive for massive over-buying.

i too grabbed a couple boxes mini mags at Cabelas, and as they have a "$20 off $100" deal going on I added in some Blazer 9mm to get me to take advantage of a real good deal.
I'm close to a Cabelas store so have no issues with store pickups; but they usually have cheap shipping (now its free over $99) so really no reason to get off my bootie to get some needed ammo.

Note these $20 off $100 deals are not that rare, always a good time to add some ammo to my range stock.

I'm seeing lots of higher quality ammo and some bulk in the bigger chain stores.Havent seen anything in Walmart in several years.I asked a nice young girl about it awhile ago,she said it does come in,but the first few buyers call all their friends and it disappears fast lol.

Those same pigs live around here too! I never see any at the 3 Walmarts I visit. Everything else is always available.

Academy had a large supply of browning, high velocity, hollow point .22lr. I bought some, as my .22lr pistols require high velocity ammunition to function. If you need .22lr you can find it, but it will never again be the price it was when I was growing up. Nothing else will either, I remember 24 cent per gallon gasoline. Yesterday I bought three more 100 round boxes at $ 9.99 a box. They had a whole case full of .22lr, no limit.

I think a lot of those guys are suffering from some weird psychological malady.Maybe one of our smarter members could apply for a grant to study them

I'm seeing a little around here at .10/rd. Bought my first 100 rd. box in about 10 years about a week ago. Not sure why other than I like to have a few on hand in case I need to shoot a squirrel or some other obnoxious critter. I generally don't shoot it. That should last me another 10 years.

Then use small rifle. They work fine in handgun loads in my revolvers, have used them for many years.

I think the 22lr drought is not quite over.

I see 22lr at all stores but in very small
quantities, and 10cents/rnd and up.
Not in the quantities before Sandy Hook.

I would not base that on Walmart quantities.
There are employees there, that buy all 22lr
before it gets to floor. Remember Walmart
employees get an employee discount.

It's pretty bad when a friend of mine that
works at Walmart can't even get any 22lr.

That's why I always advocate put out the 22lr
at different times of the day. Also if you ask
the associate to scan the tags they can tell
you if it is in (in the "back"), happened to me
twice now (oh, I didn't know we had some).

I buy every time 22lr is around 6cents/rnd.
There is an election coming.

I was at Academy Saturday. They had an large supply of .22 ammo. They had CCI standard and Minimag, CCI subsonic, two flavors of Remington, the new Browning offering, Winchester, Federal and about 6 others I don't remember. All were in 50 or 100 round packaging, no bulk. There was a 500 round limit. My wife and I both bought our limit. Pricing? The Minimag was $7.99/100, standard velocity was $6.99/100. Subsonic was also $7.99/100. Others were similarly priced. Yes, it is higher than it was 5 years ago, but what isn't? I believe this is the new norm.

My weekend score. The Federal bulk was from a local gun show. The rest came from Academy. And I did leave plenty for the next guy.

MidWay has CCI standard velocity for sale, 1500 rnds for $150 in metal box.

Just use ammospy or one of those websites that will send you an email whenever its in stock, then order online.

Cabelas (one near me) has Rem T-bolt and plated HP for about $35/500 all the time. You can have it shipped or pickup at the store.

The only reason I quit ordering online is that most of the time I'd go in there they'd have the same stuff sitting on the shelf with a 1200 round limit.

The extreme drought has gone to plain drought. Drought over when more than one brand bulk shows up and there's a "sale".

I would say that as long as you are limited to how many you can buy then I would say the drought is still on going. I only expect things to get worse and there are two reasons for that. One is political and the other is I'm shooting more 22lr and 22mag so therefore it's going to dry up.

Locally, it has gotten much better. My LGS has bulk packs of Remington and until recently the Federal Auto match for 6-7 cents per round. A brick or three can be had. Sales have slowed A LOT. Even 300 round packs of mini mags were available for weeks at under 10 cents a round. Even the CCI, AR Tactical reared it's head. The variety is what gives me hope.

I have cut way down on my 22 usage. I may have to grab another case and start enjoying my rimfires again. I miss the days when burning through a brick was just an afternoon of fun. And we usually just picked up the ammo on the way to shoot.

Nov could get ugly tho. It's a shame that things are just getting better and we may be starting over. I'll always keep 2-3 thousand rounds so I'm not caught flatfooted again. Even if I haven't been shooting volume as much, I want to be able to break them out occasionally.

How many of us would have ever thought that 50 rds of 22 would cost as much as 50 rds of 9mm?

Where I live, ammo cannot be delivered to a home. I have to go out shopping or order from Cabelas and have it shipped to a store for pick up.

I'm seeing a lot more of it these days - now that all the retailers like Cabelas, Wal-Mart, Academy, Bass Pro, etc. have got their prices for bottom of the barrel bulk 22 jacked up into the 8-10 cents per round range, and the better quality stuff is going for 12-15 cents per round.

Kinda reminds me of all the "oil shortages" over the last 50 years. Its in short supply until they get the prices jacked up to where they want them - then suddenly you can find and buy as much as you can afford.

In Australia we have never seen a low supply issue sometimes mini mags arnt in stock. But they always have cci sv's in stock in the last 2 years they always have 5000 round boxes for $300us ish each which is a good deal here.

Powder can be hit and miss but never taken more than 2 weeks to get I want.

But then again your ammo prices are way cheaper. I buy bulk 308 steel cased ammo at $.70c us a round. Decent stuff a $2+ per shot.

Same here. Walmart barren, but others always have some stock.

And it will remain that high until we refuse to pay the inflated prices. Even though I don't like it I refuse to pay more than 5¢ a round. Even that is hard to swallow when we were paying only 2¢ a round just 7years ago before this false shortage began.

My local sporting goods stores have plenty. Last week Walmart for the first time in 3 yrs had some when I typically go there after 7pm.
I don't think anyone putting their foot down and not buying ammo until the price goes down will see ammo prices drop to what they consider an acceptable level is. New shooters are joining the fold every day and they don't remember $5/100 22LR prices. $9/100 22LR at walmart is still much less than $24/100 9mm at Walmart.
If you want to keep shooting you'll pay the prices as long as you can afford them I guess.
When I shot 4H skeet in High School 25yrs ago, those 100rnd packs of Federal shotshells were ~$6 each. Now they are $23 and that is about as cheap as shotshells get.

The days of 2 cents a round of 22lr have gone the way 19 cents a gallon of gasoline. One just has to adapt or quit shooting.

I can still get mini mags at Academy or CCI SV's for $7.99/100. Wish I could pick up some 9mm at those prices but the prices today are in a sweet spot compared to the recent past for 9mm so when I have free cash I try and pick some up.
