Just tested two short shells in my 870 12 gauge shotgun. The Agular was unsatisfactory, six shots, 3 fail to eject, 1 fail to feed and one flipped around backwards in the receiver. The Nobel Sports Minibuck, all fed and ejected properly. I didn't hang targets because the range is a glare of ice. Just a functionality test.

NSI's Minibuck wins.

Aguila Minishells are best from a break-action shotgun. My 870 fails to properly function 1/5 times with them, the special build Mossberg with a rubber doohoickey designed to cycle the Aguilas failed function 1/3 times.

Herter's Mini-Buckshot (2 1/4") cycled perfectly in my 870.

But what I found that works best for low-recoil is the Federal Low Recoil 00 Buck with Flite Control wad. It also patterned better than the Aguila or Herters.

The Nobel Sport pattern acceptably at distances up to 10 yards and feed through my 870 Gatekeeper. After 10 yards, 2 3/4" 00 buck patterns well. The Hornady Critical Defense patterns best from that cylinder bore 14" bbl. The only pump gun that is reported to function ok with Aguila mini shells is the Mossberg with an adapter.

Aguila mini-shells function in my Shockwave with the OpSol adapter as well as in my Winchester 1300. The Herter's mini buckshot work as well.
