I'm too late to vote in the poll. But honestly, I don't have that much time left to wait that long. I've already waited 2 years. Life is too short. I think ammo at twice pre-covid prices is here to stay. I am done waiting. If I need ammo, I'll buy it at today's prices. Fortunately I am well stocked for now with the cheaper pre-2019 stuff. I learned my lesson after the Sandy Hook shortages and stocked up.
In May-Jun-Jul of 2013, the Sandy Hook shortage was well on it's way to recovery and prices continued to fall through 2013 and 2014.

I didn't vote in the poll, but I'm in the forever category. I've reloaded almost 3k this month and have about 2k left to do. That should last me for a while.
Then I can start on my backlog of 45 acp.

Any time you decide to wait, you roll the dice that something else doesn't happen. If you have enough to take that chance, it's a good move.
A couple years ago I was 100% in the "wait it out" camp. Over the past 2 years we've seen pandemic, riots, another pandemic scare, national political rumblings, now a war in Europe. Every time the price starts to drop, something else happens to jolt it back up.
At this point, if you have ammo, best to sit on it and wait. If you don't and want some, better get it while it's available, and balance the checkbook accordingly. If you have an AK or something in 7.62x39, I don't ever think we'll see Tula at $200 a case 1k again. If you can get it for $300, that may well be the best you will see before it all dries up.

The high price of primers and lack of cheap 9mm ammo has stopped me from shooting it altogether. I used to shoot 1500-2000 rounds of 9mm per month in competition, but that went out the window after I ran down to only 5k primers. I am still shooting .22 in competition but I slowed way down on that when I fell under 20k on the shelf. Now that .22 is becoming more readily available I’m starting to ramp back up a bit.
I did however find a source for my carry ammo that is actually cheaper than what I paid pre-COVID, so I’m at least able to put some rounds down range with it to stay proficient. I used to pay about $.80/round for these Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P HP rounds, but now I get them for $30 per box of 50 which is a real value when some places now charge over $1/round for it!

I haven't needed to wait. Sub-$10 a box ammo rolls off my Dillon all the time!

I got an email for 250 rounds of factory reman 9mm fin a plastic ammo can for $75. $15 a 50 round box ain't half bad. For my money factory reman from a reputable maker is fine as range ammo.

Cheapest I've seen it is on Freedom Munitions. Their ammo, re-manufactured 9mm 115Gr at 14.75 per box of 50. So, from 14.75 up to around 16.25 per box for their 9mm 135gr RNFP, and 30 per box for their 165 gr HUSH ammo. Pick yer poison, it is going to be like this for a while. Factor in the fact that 88 tons of ammo have been shipped to Ukraine, with more to follow, supplies will probably start getting low again, and prices might spike again. I could be wrong, but we will see.

Saw 9mm 115gr FMJ for $15 per box at a local gun show this weekend. Dealer told me they sold a LOT of it. I am still good and my most recent purchase last week was a private deal at $13 per box.

Between inflation and national and world events, I don't see $10 9mm coming back. If I see FMJ at $15-$16, I'd buy it. Yes, I reload, but with the primer shortage, that's not going to last forever. Sorry, I'm becoming a pessimist, and I agree with scoobysnackker.

If I could FIND it at $15/box, I'd buy some. $20 is as cheap as I've seen it in my area. I'm not hurting and have waited this thing out for 2 years. Bullets are almost back to pre-Covid prices. I have plenty of powder and brass. Primers is what I'm holding out for ( like everyone else). Natchez has CCI 9mm @ $339/1,000 but that's still more than I'm willing to pay. Time will tell, I can be pretty patient when I have to be.

I don't think we'll ever see commercial ammo at $10/bx ever again . Right now I can buy it at $16/bx locally and that's probably close to being bottomed out . I hope I'm wrong . We shall see .

It won't be next week but when I get down to 2 boxes of any caliber that I use I'm going to buy 2 more boxes at whatever price. "Unarmed" is in the dictionary but it's not in my life. Larry
