What's your experiance with Georgia Arms ammo?

I may try their .44 special 200 grain Gold Dot hollow points.

Would you have confidence in their ammo for self defence use?

Also, do you have any leading problems with their lead ammo?

Thanks in advance.

I've used several boxes of their 38spl ammo and have always been pleased with it. Reasonable price and I've never had a dud. Kinda dirty is my only complaint, but it's no big deal. The guns have to be cleaned anyway.

I have used GA ammo for years, and it is excellent stuff. The 200 gr. GDHP .44 Spec. lod is just the ticket in my Rossi 720.

Have shot GA ammo in 9mm, 40 S&W, 45 ACP, 38 Special, 357 Mag, 41 Mag, 44 Mag and 10mm Auto. All good stuff. Highly recommended from me. Never had any problems.

Have used their ammo in .45 Winchester Magnum and .41 Mag. Both worked fine, no problems. I'm not sure but I think their lead bullets are cast not swaged but they don't seem to lead any more than my hard cast handloads. Of course, the GA .41 lead bullet loads I'm using are only doing 1000 fps.

I have shot their 38 special and all 44's extensively. Their ammo is top notch, and the pricing is hard to beat.

The 200 grain Gold Dot is my 44 carry load, and it eats holes out in every 44 I have at any range. It is also a pussycat load. I can shoot that load all day long, and the Gold Dot is almost a mile wide after expansion!

Unfortunately they no longer attend TN shows since the revenuers confiscated many rounds since they did not have the tax sticker on EVERY single bag of ammo.

There lead is swaged, I have been in the plant.

I would give GA an overall rating at 95%. I have been buying components and loaded ammo for 10 years from them. Most all of my business has been great; but, I would stay away from surplus ammo and open the component boxes before buying (if you can visit them of course)-- from time to time I recieve the incorrect weights of lead bullets and once I have semi wad cutters instead of round nose that I wanted. Right now pickings are slim and there is a long list of customers in front of you, but overall good people.

I bought some .32 H&R jacketed hollow pt.
Great ammo loaded hot it seemed.
Ordered some more, they took my money and sent
lead flat pts not great ammo, goes bang.

Gonna have to disagree with their lead bullets being swaged. They cast all of their lead bullets themselves. Excellent ammo and they stand behind their product.

Things must have changed recently. I have a bunch of Georgia Arms 158-gr LSWC-HP .38 +P that has swaged (but harder than Remington) lead bullets. I believe they are Hornady bullets. The respected Stephen A. Camp has done several articles on these swaged bullet loads comparing them against the Remington FBI load.

As to the OP question, I carry a compact 10mm daily and the ammo I have the most confidence in is GA Gold Dot G10B.

Nitesite,
I believe you are correct on the 38 LSWC-HP. I believe they do use a commercial bullet for that but all of their LSWC bullets are cast as are all of the lead bullets they sell. They may sell some commercial lead bullets but they would be marked as such. Sorry for the confusion on my part.

I like their 44 spc 200gr Gold Dot load well enough to have 1000 on hand.
