Default Cor-Bon Pow'r Ball

Anybody have any experience with these rounds? I was at a small gunshow this weekend and I bought a box in .38 Super. I didn't have any self defense ammo in .38 Super and kind of grabbed it on a whim. Shot a magazine at the range, fed flawlessly and seemed pretty accurate. Seat of the wrist measurement made it feel a little hotter than the Magtech range ammo I had. I like the idea for feeding reliability and YouTube videos seem to show good expansion.

IIRC it was the first answer to the NJ ban on hollow points for those very few folks who had carry permits. FWIW, the Hornady flex tips also are OK for carry.

And yes, Cor-Bon +P ammo did live up to it's velocity claims, which were on the muscular side. Midway is currently carrying the ammo.

Slightly OT, is it true you need permission from the authorities to buy AMMO of any kind in NJ. Is that real?

My wife's Shield is loaded with their 100gr 9mm offering. High velocity, better feeding, lighter carry weight, it seems like a really solid choice. But it's probably best suited for those older guns that don't like the abrupt edge of the standard JHP bullet profile.

I recently found a box in .380. I ran a mag through my G42 the other day. It felt absolutely normal vs. any other load. I fill the gun with Fed HS JHP, or SilverTip. Decided to fill the spare mag with the PB. I often just toss it loose in my pocket, and this way there's no cavity for **** to get into.

From what I gather, for purchasing handgun ammo, you must have a New Jersey firearms purchaser ID card. Retailers must maintain an electronic log of what they sold, how much they sold, when they sold it, and to whom they sold the ammo.

I discovered the Cor-Bon Powerball ammo after I acquired the weapon that my screen name is based on, the Sistema 1927. I did not want to modify the feed ramp, but it would only consistently feed .45 ball. That is, until I discovered Powerball, and tht is what I keep it loaded with.

Feeds like fmj .
The first " Non HP Defensive " ammo .
Reasonably decent performance.

Not only to be NJ Legal. Additionally the RN profile encouraged reliable feeding in any gun that would feed FMJ .

Nowadays that's a strange concept, but back when Peter Pi invented it , lots of pistols still in use were picky feeders .

And now that I think about it , in the USA we think about New Jersey, but no doubt it is also popular internationally, where various countries don't allow HP for civilians.
