Ammo Order
Has anyone ordered ammo from Shopify? I ordered some ammo last month, and received an email that it was delivered on the 10th of this month. I receive my mail in town at a private postal place and they did not receive the order. Shopify says to check the post office, gave me a tracking number, but turns out not to be a USPS tracking number. The carrier is China Post, yes, from China, which I did not know when ordering. Just wondering if I should stop payment on the card, or what?

OP: unfortunately, I have made some unknowing purchases that originated in China and shipped via China Post. I have found that when they say the package was delivered, it basically means the it was delivered from the warehouse to their shipping company. Figure that you are looking at your package arriving in 2 to 3 weeks. It will go from initial shipper to international shipper, then arrive in the US, then go through Customs, then eventually get to your final shipper, then to you. It sounds very convoluted. Personally, I go out of my way to avoid purchases from China. If you cancel the order and stop the credit card payment, it could still be delivered to you and you could become responsible for return shipping.

I've never heard of ammunition being shipped to an individual from China. I would think you would need an import license from the US. I know the government banned importation of firearms from China many years ago and I've never seen Chinese ammo for sale in the US. What brand and type of ammo did you think you were buying? Ammunition is also not mailable in the US, so it would never get through customs into the US mail stream.

It was US branded ammo. Also, they claimed to have delivered to my mail place. I followed the delivery, from China to customs to Oregon. Never too old to learn a lesson.

I thought that the Clinton's put the kibosh on ammo from China, part of the human rights violation sanctions. I thought the ban was still active.

How did you pay?
Edit:
I now see from your post that you paid with a CC. I would contact them and contest the charges.
I thought all ammo imports from China were banned, but apparently that's not the case. I found this:
Quote:
That “Assault Weapons Ban” had other impacts as well. It included the fact that you cannot legally import most ammunition to the United States...
However, there is a clause that allows the importation of sporting ammunition and certain military surplus firearms that are considered collectibles or relics.

According to a quick search, ammunition imported into the US has to go through an FFL or you must have a permit.
I think Chad's point is, if you used a credit card I'd dispute the charge and contact the seller to have the package returned. You may also want to let Shopify know about what happened.
Immediately would be good.

It cannot, ammo is specifically prohibited by the USPS. Both Fedex and UPS will deliver it though. Might be a reason the OP hasn't got his ammo.
