I think 9 million rounds of .22 borders on excess, but that's just me, YMMV.

You’ve reached the point that you should begin to diversify!
Perhaps begin to hunt down 38 special ammo.

You likely have a lifetime supply.

You can never have too much CCI SV. I run five different. 22 rifles and the SV groups great in all of them. Sometimes better than the high priced stuff.

I've bought CCI SV by the case for years. Much better than the bulk junk stuff. The CCI costs a little more but it's worth it not to have to deal with inaccuracy and cartridges that don't fire.

If you can’t get to your commode - you have too much 22 Ammo!
Otherwise, rock on!
I haven’t bought any in a week or two, but tomorrow is another day!

Sounds like you need to buy a few cases (5000 rounds) of different flavors of 22lr and a few k more 22mag. There is nothing wrong with going to the range and having some left over after you have shot all you want and then some.

I probably have at least 30,000 rounds of assorted .22 LR along with maybe 10,000 .22 Shorts. I don't need any more but when the online ammo sellers send me emails with deals I have to fight the urge to buy more

FWIW, in my assorted 22 semi auto pistols , revolvers, and rifles CCI standard velocity is the ONLY ammo to function 100%. Sadly every other mfg 22s have many DUDS, some fire when round is rotated in chamber which just tells me some dag gone pin headed pencil pusher has mandated a “ reduction” in primer material in the case. So be it will just use CCI. Now before I get jumped on the high end target rounds work fine, just not going to go shoot up 5-6 boxes of Eley or similar.

If you only have 9k of 22 rimfire that’s less than 2 cases and factoring in grandchildren that won’t last long. You gotta think 1 is 0 and 2 is 1 and think in cases. I guess you could have too much ammo but I can’t imagine what that number would be and you can’t depend on a seller to have ammo when you need it..

There used to be a hardware store near me so full of pallets of 22 ammo you couldn't get down some aisles. And it was always that way. But the owner passed on...

Get out the actuary tables, and determine what you have left subtracting your age from the terminal number. Figure that you may not be able to get to a range probably for all that you have left. Divide how many rounds you have now by the remaining years. Now some of you might discover that you have alot of work ahead of you to use that all up in time remaining. If you are a kid, well, maybe wait awhile to do your figuring. Maybe there is an idea called "He who dies with the most ammo, wins" but that is kinda pointless.

I'm looking for that "very special" ammo hoarder!
Like a lot of guys n gals on this forum, I too have stocked up on ammo that I can shoot in all my collection, from S&W's (old and new...semi's and wheel guns, shotguns, milsurps, etc. BUT...not being a reloader....I'm at a big loss for 32-20 WCF for my 1921 (per Roy) Model 1905 4th change.
So......anyone here that is overstocked on 32-20 WCF, and wants to send me some (for a price of course)????

In your formula you neglected to include ((a*c/gk)yr)squared/X. Amount of ammo times caliber divided by number of grandkids times the number of years, then doubled then divided by X. X is the unknown factor which is how many of the grandkids get girlfriends/boyfriends who shoot.

I enjoy my centerfires but a good deal of my shooting is done with the .22 rimfire cartridge . It's pretty much the only way I can afford to shoot as much as I do.
I have bolt action, semi auto and lever action rifles as well as semi auto pistols and a revolver all chambered in .22 LR .
I tend to go through a lot of ammo over the course of a year.
Availability and prices on .22 ammo are quite good right now so it would be a good time to stock up if needed .

Have a friend that has north of 250,000 rounds of .22 LR and he is still buying.

I have in the neighborhood of 20K. I will buy more if I find it at a decent price. I like shooting the rimfire and won't be caught short.

Have a 18-3 that is my most cherished, most handled and most shot handgun. Unless I am sick, out of town, etc., I go to the range several times a week. It is not hard to fire a brick of .22 LR, especially if I also take one of my semi-autos. With that in mind I try to keep enough ammo on hand for about a year worth of shooting. Figure in children and grandchildren and friends and that can get pricey. Shoot 9mm and .38 Special primarily when using my centerfire revolvers/pistols. But, overwhelmingly use .22 LR caliber handguns the most. Can't reload it. Remember a while back when I didn't have any and couldn't get any ammo. So ... I plan accordingly. Today ... that planning will pay off again. Sincerely. bruce.

I was shooting 1000 rounds a week so I stocked up on a variety of ammo.
I only shoot about 1000 rounds a month these days if that. I have 2 cases of CCI SV, 3 cases of Blazer 5 cases of Mini Mags...All-in All I have about 50K rounds of .22 now and at the rate I'm shooting I don't think I'll have to buy any more.
At 72 I just don't go to the range as much. My shooting buddy has stopped shooting pistol so our marathon shooting sessions are gone.

There is no such thing as too much ammo, reloading components or firearms.
There is such a thing as not enough house.
Same with Piscatorial Paraphernalia.
We hunt with rods and reels.

When you get older there's this thing called arthritis. How many times can your trigger finger do its' thing before it gives out?

I'm already older and have arthritis in both wrists. My trigger finger works fine it's the recoil that's bothersome. Hence a big supply of CCI SV.

I thought about buying more ammo so I went into the garage to check my stash. I think I've got enough for this year and maybe a little more. 50K rounds of assorted .22s.
I've given up shooting centerfire guns but I do have 1000 rounds for my 9mm home defense gun and 1000 rounds of .38 for my carry gun.

You know I laugh when I read newspaper articles about the police raid that netted an "arsenal of guns and ammo. Six pistols and three assault rifles and 4,000 rounds of ammunition".
I know some of my lefty neighbors would be shocked if they were invited over to play some pool and see whats behind a certain basement door. " NEWS at ELEVEN "
A buddy down the street let one of the woke crowd in his gun room. Dude almost passed out, shuddering " You, you have a machine gun factory here" Word went out that night, Dude hasn't been invited anywhere since. And no, there were no machine guns, just scary looking black rifles.

I keep everything except 22LR in 30 or 50 cal ammo cans.
I'm to the point of running out of space for them. I'd hate to store them in my garage or shed.

You can do what I did and build another room on the house. The room is a second room of collectibles, guns, ammo, and reloading.
