Default Mag Tech 9mm ammo question

I just started using this in my model 986 and have had a few duds. I tried to fire them a second time and nothing happened. Am wondering if it is the ammo since I had no such problem with PMC but would like to know if there is a way to adjust the strength of the firing pin hit.
Any info much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Never had a problem with them with 9mm or .40sw. I have had a few light strikes with their 454 though. May have just been a harder batch of primers. Only way I can think of to change how hard your pin strikes would be to get a stronger spring, but that may not be good for the pin itself in the long run. Depending on what gun you are using a firing pin made of a harder metal may be available(thinking along the lines of enhanced firing pins for 7.62x39 ar15s)

I have experienced no negative issues with their 9mm or 45acp.

I picked up 1000 Mag Tech small rifle primers from an estate sale. The cups are very hard. They sometimes take 2 hits in my handguns. Had one take 3.

Use their 9mm, and 38 wadcutters as well. No problems.

No problems with Mag Tech over the years. I noticed they are now making steel cased ammo. I have no experience with their steel cases.

Magtech is now one with S&B. S&B products have hard primers. Wouldn't surprise me if some S&B primers ended-up in some Magtech ammo.

I, also, have never had any problems with any MagTech ammo throughout several (more than ten) years of use.

+1 on no issues with MTech ever and shot a lot of it over the years. As far as increasing hammer strike, I think a heavier spring is the answer. FWIW I wouldn't go that far though over 3 or 4 misfires.

Have used some Magtech in .32 S&W Long , .45 ACP , and 9mm and have not had any such issues. The 9mm was a recent purchase of 4 boxes of the 115 grain FMJ , the other two I got in trade a number of years back.

PS : I also have used some in .32 ACP and .380 ACP that I had forgot about, don't remember any issues .

While Mag Tech is not my go to factory ammo, I have never had any issues with it either. I suppose they could have had a bad batch, but more than likely it has to do with the gun.

That said, if your gun functions 100% with all other types of ammo - I'd contact Mag Tech and let them know. I'm sure they will do something for you.

The key here is to get ahold of other brands and try them, then you will know.

Ammo company's have ammo assembly lines that move so darn fast that all that is needed is a single minute and there will be a large amount of "bad" ammo. It doesn't take long!

I believe that CCI standard velocity ammo is one of the very best 22RF out there. That said, I have over recent times had a bad couple of boxes of 50 where I have had 6% -10% failures to fire. After those few specific boxes, the remainder of the brick was perfect as usual. So..... it happens to even the best.
