Default COSTCO Ammo Storage Bins

My COSTCO had these “ammo storage” bins/tray for $19.95 a set. Amazon carries them for $40.00. For the price, I envision them coming in real handy for a lot of stuff: ammo, reloading gear, tools, anything that will fit. Thought I’d pass this along for those with a COSTCO near by.

Amazon is not your friend. They just mastered one stop shopping and the solution for immediate gratification.

Those are MTM Ammunition boxes. How many in a "set"? If it is 4 as pictured that is a good price as they cost more than that direct from MTM.

I use and really like the trays that fit the 30 cal and 50 cal USGI ammo boxes.

Harbor Freight has similar plastic boxes, and sometimes on sale with coupons. About two years ago I bought six of them, roughly the size and shape of a .30 ammo can, on sale for $2.99 each. I haven't been inside a Harbor Freight store for awhile so I don't know if they still sell them.

I just checked. Harbor Freight has them, .30 cal. now for $3.99. Without any coupon. No limit. They also have larger cans for $8.99. But they do not give dimensions of the larger cans, and I can't tell from the picture.

I use Plano ammo boxes that I purchased from Amazon many moons ago. They have held up well.

I have been a Prime member since its inception in 2005.

I am well pleased.

But don’t see those neat trays you Cosco Boys are getting.

Local hardware store had a sale on cans. Bought a dozen .50 Cal. Still need a few more and some of those trays Faulkner posted pics of.

You folks are a lot stronger than me. I can pick up 2 full 50s, but I'm not trying a rack of 4. I have more time than back muscles. I know -- go to the range and shoot more.

Don't see the MTM logo in pics but it does say they are made in the USA from recycled material.

Amazon is OK IF YOU REALLY KNOW YOUR PRICES! If you don't, Amazon is sometimes no bargain at all! I do buy from Amazon, but not nearly as much as I used to and when I do, I exercise caution as to what I buy.

I have also been burned a few times on Amazon getting what I believed to be the real deal product but in fact it was a Chinese knock off product! I bought GE refrigerator filters on Amazon once and they were advertised as genuine GE filters and the picture clearly stated, "made in USA". When I received them, they were of course made in China and were knock-offs. I returned them, bit the bullet and bought real ones at higher prices.

We now live in scammerville - exercise caution when purchasing. If it seems to good to be true - it more than likely is!

went into Costco yesterday....What in 'ell is there to get all them people in that store?? I decided if I need those boxes that bad I'll buy 'em at a yard sale in the future. We weren't in the store 10 minutes...I was almost wishing for a bumpstock. If I go back it's going to be the hour early old folks day!! I wanted to get the boxes and a good rib roast....and after the 10 minutes I didn't CARE about anything but leaving. BTW looking at the greenie label...are they MTM? I was wanting them to pot 22 ammo etc in. All I have are the 50 cal ammo cans from US surplus. I mostly have shot and lead ingots in them about 40 of 'em. . A real pain to move.

We went to one this past Dec. that has a humongous parking lot. The parking lot was full of parked cars and about that many cars riding around looking for a parking space. We left because if we had found parking the inside of the store would have been like a can of sardines.
I've always used coffee cans and cigar boxes to store my pistol reloads. Cigar boxes wear out but a coffee can will last forever. Larry

Agree with this. In the past I have ordered oil filters for my car from Amazon. Have since discovered that prices are better Menard's, WalMart, or other big box stores. It's true of other things as well.

So Amazon is good when you just want things delivered to your door or need something that isn't available locally.

Me too - one 50 or maybe two 30's at a time max. All a 76 year old well used back can handle now. Not complaining, I can still handle a range bag and get to the range (and hit some of what I'm aiming at!). Life is good.

Never saw those boxes at Costco. I did buy a number of ammo boxes from Harbor Freight on sale...quality isn't the best for sure but I only used them to transport ammo during our relocation from the Peoples Republic of Maryland to Free America in Arizona. In that...they served their purpose.

I still have a few but disposed of most once I had no further use for them.

It's hard to replace genuine GI ammo boxes.

Is that a serious comment? All ammo cans get heavy and are a pita to move. Especially the bigger ones. Which is why I don't move them or not very far......

Default Costco Ammo Boxes

Just purchased 2 4 packs of Greenmade Store All Crates from
Costco for $19.99 per 4 pack. You can get the same product from their website delivered to your door for $29.99 per 4 pack.

Their item number is 1731258

These look like 50 cal ammo cans, have a lockable lid and can be used for storing a variety of shooting items.

Greenmade is also the manufacturer the ubiquitous black & yellow Costco storage bins as well as the excellent collapsible InstaCrates.

I've been pleased with all three products. The quality is very good and the prices are reasonable.

Non-members should be able to purchase these products through the website. The prices are higher because they include shipping.

Wow, never felt “ crowded out” at either of the local Costcos. One in St Augustine and the other off Collins Rd, can be seen from I-295 W.

We go to that newer one in St. Auggy. It’s a bit further on but the drive is more pleasant….. and there Buckeye’s near by.

I disagree. Amazon is a dear friend. After stock split and buying on the down side I’m up about $70 a share.

The Costco 4 packs are Not 50 Cal cans , smaller 30 Cal. or now-days 5.56/.223. My new ones will be full in about 10 minutes of sorting cardboard boxes.

Default COSTCO Ammo Storage Bins

I received my Costco order this week, and yesterday I finally had the time to unpack the storage boxes. Ammo is heavy, and as other posts have stated, I have always preferred the metal storage cans.

I added a few pictures for clarity.

1. The storage boxes do contain a seal around the edge of the top. Keeping moisture out is a plus.

2. I was able to load nine boxes of .45 ACP in each container box.

3. Afterwards I weighed one full box. Twenty-three pounds! Now I'm not sure how sturdy that handle is.......but so far, so good. 4 X 23 = 92 pounds in that tray!

4. I have a concrete floor in my "Man Cave" so I added two wood strips under the tray.

5. The handle is lockable and has an opening for the shackle.

I prefer WWII 50 cal ammo boxes. They hold a lot and can be stacked, not to mention the astatic value.

My wife dispatched me to Costco to pick up some (24) of their 27 gal. storage bins. I spotted a few of the ammo can type boxes and trays and bought 2, 4 packs. I’m going to try to organize my gun stuff. Grips in one, spare mags. in another.

The ones at my local HF were “made in Vietnam”. Some of those I inspected look “used “ but re-painted. Probably just refinished the ammo cans we left behind……..

I ordered some of those MTM trays after seeing your post. It did free-up a little much needed floorspace. Thanks!

A bit of topic, but, I went dumpster diving at a deceased neighbors house tha was being emptied a rescues a metal .50 cal ammo can. It has the flaming bomb embossed on it. The odd thing to me is the lid hinge is on the long side of the can instead of the short side or end. When did the switch types?

I picked up two sets today. I am in the process of filing two of the boxes with partial boxes of 9mm HP ammo I have acquired over the last few years. I also have probably a full ammo box of 44 spec. These things will fill up pretty fast I'll bet. Thanks for letting u know about this sale

You just overloaded it. Just because 1000 .44 Magnum 240 grain LSWC rounds fit in it you do not have to fill it.

How's moisture incursion on these? I use silica packets that change color when saturated. A set of old plastic cans I had a few years ago would cause the packets to change color within two weeks. I've been using the USGI style metal ammo cans since and they're dry as can be inside.
